  1. Marte tested his finger on September 19, and reportedly, it was still hurting enough to compromise his effectiveness. He expresses opty-mism that he'll be ready for the Braves series. In the old days, up until this year, they could just let him float as an active member of the roster, occasionally getting pinch-running or defensive opportunities.
  2. Hey, they've won six in a row with this lineup. It takes 25 guys. Or 26. Or 28. Or whatever.
  3. That's one more reason post-season proliferation is counter-productive. No team that wins 68% of the time — and no fans of such a team — should feel disappointed all winter because of a season that ended with a post-season loss, in whatever round.
  4. Well, I'm going to guess Doug Flynn and Pete Alonso. And now I'm going to check if I'm right! OE: YEAH!!!
  5. Was I not supposed to answer outside my head? Because I think I know the other two.
  6. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I didn't know there was a Donn Clendenon, Jr. (I assume he's Donn Clendenon's son?) What's he been doing that would put him on this list? Donn's a https://www.linkedin.com/in/donn-clendenon-1bb6261/developer/entrepreneur. He worked with The King Center for a number of years and he and MLK III joined with Ed Kranepool in putting together a losing bid for the team when the Wilpons/Katzes sold, marking Ed's second failed attempt to put together an equity group to control the team. I don't think he's probably a great candidate. Most of his success seems to be in flipping. I was just up late and threw him in as an outside-baseball-but-connected type of name.
  7. =MFS62 post_id=108191 time=1663766411 user_id=60] Daniels was fired after 17 years in Texas and not delivering a winner.(Despite spending a lot of money)
  8. Clinching the second wild card should be a second party!
  9. The St. Lucie Mets are YOUR https://www.milb.com/news/st-lucie-mets-win-florida-state-league-championshipFlorida State League Champions! Under the able skipperage of Robbie Robinson in his second season with the organization, the Low-A Mets affiliate won 40 games to capture the first half title and 73 games overall, before sweeping all four playoff games to quickly seize the league championship. Outfielder Omar De Los Santos gave the team 16 homers to go with his 70 steals to lead the way along with slugger Carlos Dominguez, who went deep 20 times. Dominic Hamel led the starters with 71 strikeouts in 63 1/3 innings, posting a 3.84 ERA, while Nathan Lavender helped them to their terrific first half, posting a 0.48 ERA in 18 2/3 innings before continuing to shine in Brooklyn. Overall, Lavender struck out 67 in 47.2 innings, and his name is a color.
  10. Spitballing a bunch of names I could imagine (though not necessarily endorse, certainly) as the next Mets PoBO: Bryn Alderson Billy Beane Leigh Castergine Donn Clendenon, Jr. Terry Collins Jon Daniels John DePodesta Billy Eppler Theo Epstein Davy Johnson J.P. Ricciardi David Stearns Adam Rubin Bobby Valentine David Wright While I think that there's perhaps an 8% chance the next president is on this list, my guess from this pack would be Jon Daniels. Young, available, Queens-born, and has actual PoBO experience. I can't imagine a whole lot of folks could check three of those boxes, let alone four. Also, the Mets have inquired about him in the past when he wasn't available, and he majored in economics and business admin at an Ivy. That's two or three more boxes, depending on your boxes.

  12. Shirley Povich was plugged in enough that he would have known Wills as a schoolboy jock, but I'm guessing no.
  13. Old-fashioned climbing the ladder.

  15. Good spot for Diaz here. I like seeing him stretched a bit before the post-season.
  16. Otto used the whole arsenal on Yellich, getting strike one on the fastball, strike two on the change, and strike three on the slider.
  17. I'm liking this vulnerable version of Jansen. I resent the Dodgers knowing just the time to let him walk.
  18. Think we'll see Peterson as part o' the Bridge to Diaz?
  19. Huge pitch happenin'.
  20. Three up, three down, and currently the pitcher of record on the winning side this evening? Joely Beans.
  21. =kcmets post_id=108127 time=1663726205 user_id=53] Lol, wrong thread. I'll leave it here for laughs...
  22. =Fman99 post_id=108119 time=1663726074 user_id=86] Rotten at bat for Canha. In Lindor we trust
