  1. A win of great importance.
  2. Ex-Met Guillermo Heredia enters the game as the tying run on first.
  3. I have no nostalgia for the Phils' baby blues, but they can rock that maroon primary color forever, as far as I'm concerned. Let's go, Phillie bullpen!
  4. If everybody want to pay me a few bucks, I'll procure a testing sample from the guy. I'm a truth-teller.
  5. Nickname: "Swirvin' Irvin" [FIMG=400]https://whitecleatbeat.com/wp-content/uploads/imagn-images/2017/07/16885592.jpeg[/FIMG] He's sort of the guy they've needed to step up to fill the Bassitt void.
  6. A scumdiculously corrupt Evangelical Prosperity Gospel pastor plans his comeback following a scandalous downfall that dare not speak its name. He and his wife, billed as the church's "first lady," invite a documentary crew to follow their path back to prominence, leading to some awkward strains as they grin with the love of Jesus and try to brush past the realities of the their downfall and their abandonment by their large congregation. Streaming now on Peacock. In theaters too, and possibly on Amazon. 7. Frayed Knot wrote: Culp was 112-99 against everyone else, but 10-2 against the Mets. His lifetime ERA was 3.58 but 2.59 against the Mets. He was the first example I thought of. I was in the Army with a virulent SPhillies fan, and he tormented me about how the Mets couldn't beat Culp and Larry Jackson. I you're taking about mental health, I'm crazy about the Mets. Later Please STOP!!!! LOL
  8. Should McNeil and or Nimmo need some time off, they needn't necessarily be placed on the injured list. The Mets can demote Vientos to add a guy if they want to be keep their options open on those two, but would rather have a lefty bat or a more experienced outfielder.. It's possible they could DFA Ruffage or Gore also. 1) They can use Escobar in the outfield as well, though he hasn't played there this season. Maybe Baty becomes magically healthy by tomorrow and he can play third and Escobar left. 2) Khalil Lee can play center, bats left, and has had a pretty rotten year. 3) Dom Smith bats lefty, has a shit-ton of experience, has beaucoups Metly bona fides, but doesn't fit in anywhere. Buck didn't seem interested in seeing him faking it in the outfield earlier in the season, and it's not like he's going to DH and force Vogelbach to find a glove. 4) Daniel Palka bats lefty, hits for power, has plenty of big league experience, and has had a strong year at AAA. He also isn't on the roster, and would be limited to corners. 5) Maybe Marte becomes magically healthy by tomorrow. Probably more likely than Baty, anyhow. 6) The craziest idea, but not necessarily the worst — call up Francisco Álvarez, make him your DH against lefties, and work Ruf into the outfield mix. 7) Travis Jankowski! He's still in the system! Or, maybe McNeil and Nimmo are fine by tomorrow. Anyhow, Jankowski, Álvarez, and Smitty are all in the Syracuse lineup tonight.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: It's healthy to expect them all to be tough. I could accept losing (not really) to the Koufaxes, Gibsons and Stargells of the world because they beat everybody. It was losing to the Ray Culps and Joey Amalfitanos that I never got used to. And that persists. The world isn't black and white. It never was. Ray Culp won 122 games. It's healthy to expect them all to be tough.
  10. It's healthy to expect them all to be tough.
  11. And it's Guillorme who gets to spike the ball in the end zone. Also, the '97 O's are suddenly within reach. Hit Batsmen Endured by a Team in a Single Season 1) 1898 Baltimore Orioles: 160 2) 1899 Brooklyn Superbas: 125 3) 1899 Baltimore Orioles: 122 4) 1896 Baltimore Orioles: 120 5) 1897 Baltimore Orioles: 115 2022 New York Mets Projected to End of season: 113.72 6) 1891 Baltimore Orioles: 111 T7) 1895 Baltimore Orioles: 106 T7) 2022 New York Mets: 106 9) 2021 Cincinnati Reds: 105 10) 2021 Los Angeles Dodgers: 104 11) 2008 Cleveland Indians: 103 12) 2018 Tampa Bay Rays: 101 13) 1997 Houston Astros: 100 T14) 1894 Baltimore Orioles: 98 T14) 2021 Oakland Athletics: 98
  12. Not looking like Buck's strongest game.
  13. There we go! Action on the PoBO Front! Bryn Alderson Billy Beane Leigh Castergine Donn Clendenon, Jr. Terry Collins Jon Daniels John DePodesta Billy Eppler Theo Epstein Davy Johnson Dayton Moore J.P. 14. Lunge bunting is bad. Nobody bunts right anymore. Nobody.
  15. My bet was on the soy sausage. Lost a LOT on that race.
  16. Brian Chicklo: "Jeff, are you sure you can still go? Let me get another look at that knee." Jeff McNeil: "Leave me alone. I'm FINE." Brandon Nimmo: "Jeff, you're no help to the team hurting yourself worse. That's why I came out." Jeff McNeil: "Yeah, and also, you're a big baby. You leave me alone, too."
  17. Terrific play there, but he's looking like Gibson '88. And I don't mean Debbie.
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: McNeil looking pretty gimpy. Do you take him out and put Ruf in the outfield? Or Gore? Gore, McCann, Ruf, and Vientos are the only position players on the bench. That's three perfectly viable options. I'm not sure I can support Buck's course of action here.
  19. And it's appropriate that it's Cahna to carry the ball over the goal line. Hit Batsmen Endured by a Team in a Single Season 1) 1898 Baltimore Orioles: 160 2) 1899 Brooklyn Superbas: 125 3) 1899 Baltimore Orioles: 122 4) 1896 Baltimore Orioles: 120 5) 1897 Baltimore Orioles: 115 2022 New York Mets Projected to End of season: 112.65 6) 1891 Baltimore Orioles: 111 7) 1895 Baltimore Orioles: 106 T8) 2021 Cincinnati Reds: 105 T8) 2022 New York Mets: 105 10) 2021 Los Angeles Dodgers: 104 11) 2008 Cleveland Indians: 103 12) 2018 Tampa Bay Rays: 101 13) 1997 Houston Astros: 100 T14) 1894 Baltimore Orioles: 98 T14) 2021 Oakland Athletics: 98
  20. Gotta get McKnee out of there.
  21. I'm going to assume that Cahna talks shit in the MLB Fantasy Football Forum.
  22. Nats done take the lead. PASS IT ON! And they lock the eight down with William Contreras getting thrown out at third!
  23. It's the super-draining fields that cause outfielders to get their knees jammed into divots. Somebody's gonna tear up a leg on one of those plays.
  24. One tick short of the modern, non-Ned Hanlon record. Hit Batsmen Endured by a Team in a Single Season 1) 1898 Baltimore Orioles: 160 2) 1899 Brooklyn Superbas: 125 3) 1899 Baltimore Orioles: 122 4) 1896 Baltimore Orioles: 120 5) 1897 Baltimore Orioles: 115 2022 New York Mets Projected to End of season: 111.58 6) 1891 Baltimore Orioles: 111 7) 1895 Baltimore Orioles: 106 8) 2021 Cincinnati Reds: 105 T9) 2021 Los Angeles Dodgers: 104 T9) 2022 New York Mets: 104 11) 2008 Cleveland Indians: 103 12) 2018 Tampa Bay Rays: 101 13) 1997 Houston Astros: 100 T14) 1894 Baltimore Orioles: 98 T14) 2021 Oakland Athletics: 98
