  1. Mets have gotten this far without playing the Jimmy Yacabonis card.
  2. No poo-poo at-bats, Mets!
  3. Hunter has hunted down his slider.
  4. Keep opening that bullpen door, Braves.
  5. Awesome! But more importantly, WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH VOGELBACH'S HAIR?!?!
  6. Gotta make the turn at third and see if you can force Acuña to make the throw.
  7. Sean Murphy really would have had no business missing that pitch.
  8. Phamwalk may have felt as good as the Batyball.
  9. You know, I love meeting fans of out-of-town teams at my home team's ballpark. I've been shown some excellent hospitality when I've visited other team's ballparks, and I'm happy to show the same. But get out of here with that tomahawk nonsense. Come proper, man.
  10. I like that Acuña was on top of the world after his homer, and now he's all frustrated after Nimmo's catch.
  11. Back end of the lineup not even contributing productive outs.
  12. [fimg=450]https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2023/04/dunker.png[/fimg]
  13. A new turning point may have come.
  14. The turning point so far was on the Lindor stolen base. McNeil got called on a dubious swinging strike for strike two by the home-plate ump, without asking for help from third base. McNeil was controlling the at-bat to that point. Strider was trying to get him to chase and he wasn't biting. But then he went into defensive-swing mode and ended up with that popout.

  16. Maybe going to be a little while before we see Reyes again. On the other hand, they may end up needing him for Game Two.
  17. Fun fact: His birth name is Spencer Aragorn.
  18. The odd part is it has a lot in common with samurai films. It may have become an iconic representation of a culture, but to watch it, it certainly doesn't come across as celebration of that scene. Even if Robert Stigwood teed it up as an exploitation film, it comes out as a documentation of the beautiful, almost heroic stupidity of young men. Tony is totally a code hero. 19. Talent for the Game not only featured the wonderful symmetry of An Angels insignia that allowed prints of Edward James Olmos to be printed forward and backward, it also positively burst with Metly acting performances by Lenny Randle, Phil Lombardi, and Tony Tarasco, all billed as "'Angel' Baseball Player," as part of a roster of several generations of then-active and retired players somehow making up a roster despite decades of difference in their ages. https://baseballcoachinglab.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Talent-for-the-Game-1991-Movie-Poster.jpg> https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/18/Talent_for_the_Game_%28movie_poster%29.jpg/220px-Talent_for_the_Game_%28movie_poster%29.jpg> Among the players appearing is Steve Ontiveros, though I honestly can't say which one of the two Ontiveroses it is. Also, I feel like that ballpark in the background of the film poster is Shea Stadium with the seat colors of the decks changed around, and other design foolery. Also, the pitching phenom that is the implied salvation of the Angels is apparently ambidextrous.
  20. Holy shit, yes. That montage of the long subway ride home never fails to touch me in the pourin' rain.
  21. I want to build a fantasy team pitching staff comprised of all our pitching staff's brothers — Trevor Megill, Alexis Díaz, and Ben Verlander to start. Often, I find that it's better to have color and novelty than success. That's what I tell myself, anyhow.
  22. =Tamora post_id=123879 time=1682879728 user_id=172] Just like to say hello to everyone as a new member and this seemed like a good place to do it. In regards to the Peterson discussion for relief on Monday. I've recently come back to baseball and noticed the Mets have a slightly unbalanced roster starting rotation and relief for lefty/righty match ups. Does Citi field benefit righties more or is it pretty even?
  23. Peterson may have a future as a reliever in the near-term, if only because the rotation slots may otherwise fill up, while the lefthanded reliever chair is wide open.
  24. A ninth-inning solo homer with his team down 16-0. It may be the least valuable homerun, team-wise, of his career, and simultaneously the most valuable, monkey-off-the-back-wise.
