  1. Thank this youngster for praying us out of the last inning. [FIMG=550]https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2023/07/screen-shot-2023-07-18-at-9.58.14-pm.png[/FIMG]
  2. This is a game. I mean, it's still a contest.
  3. Fartwig exits as the pitcher of record. Gary was noting earlier how unexpected it would have been that a relative unknown like Hartwig could be getting more-or-less meaningful innings by mid-season. But isn't that true more or less every season?
  4. McNeil is in on the action! McNeil!!
  5. Can you imagine a worse generous offer than a well-paid co-worker offering to buy you cosmetic surgery?
  6. =nymr83 post_id=132078 time=1689726108 user_id=54] Will the Mets continue to toy with us like tonight to the point that they neither buy nor sell at the trade deadline?
  7. Welcome to the cause, D.J. Stewart.
  8. The Mets offense with leadoff walks from Nimmo is the right kind of Mets offense.
  9. Sweet ride. I'm not advocating trading McNeil, but sometimes, looking at a player's contract strictly as an asset, trading low can be justified — if you don't have faith that low will rebound to high, or if you don't think waiting on a rebound is worth the roster spot and appearances that the player uses up while you wait.
  10. ashie must have his own source.
  11. I was at that home opener. I think I must've cut class, and I seem to remember running into several of my classmates at the game. A 10-0 loss (opening day starter Tidrow also got shelled out of the pen), with Bryn Smith going the distance for the Expos. I guess the game was a big factor in the the Mets being able to win 90 games with a negative run differential. Rusty Staub managed a pinch-hit, and I think Bobby Valentine got tossed for overzealous coaching at third.
  12. The Twins logo is so sweet that it inspired Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson's logo when they reunited as The Replacements. https://s.wsj.net/public/resources/images/BN-CP222_replac_DV_20140430111348.jpg>
  13. I like my logos to be set against a circular outline so that they can serve as an on-deck circle. If stitches arc across the background, to have the circle represent a baseball, all the better. And if your team wears white shoes, you'd better make damn sure that they appear in the logo. Lastly, it's pretty cool that two different baseball team logos feature dudes shaking hands, coming together, and leaving bygones in the past.
  14. [exclamation]That's a nice story![/exclamation] You should let your house to Isotopes when you're away.
  15. Charlie Hough was my Dodger/Ranger. I was trying to remember Bo Belinsky's name, but as it turned out, he didn't play for either of them. I screwed up my perfect grid by confusing my west coast Nats and putting Juan Soto in as a Dodger Nat when I meant Trea Turner.
  16. Toastmasters is totally still around. I could be wrong, but I would guess it's probably bigger than ever.
  17. Stewart instead of Pham to pinch-run.
  18. Alonso doing the Marte, unable to resist the slider away.
  19. Some of the subtext there, I guess, is how much of his manager's trust Drew Smith has lost.
  20. I'm guessing Robertson is ... in jail?
  21. I'm guessing Scherzer comes out for one batter. Tough call for Buck. Whether he sticks with Scherzer, goes with Gott, or goes straight to Robertson, he'll own it if it blows up.
