  1. Another Hey!. Hey, Nimmo's out!
  2. Hey, that was a fun overturned call!!
  3. Well, that could really open up the Juan Soto possibilities.
  4. Do you like lefties on the mound? How about lefties on the mound countered with righthanded bats? Good, right? Well, tonight's your lucky night because you're going to be seeing a lot of that. If you're a Daniel Vogelbach fan, well, not so much. I think we may have seen the big fella's last start as a Met. Also, Jake Burger was kicked out of last night's game, but here he is right back in the lineup tonight! What's with the revolving-door justice?! 5. Tonight is Buck Showalter Windbreaker night. I think that means the first 15,000 fans will all receive a Buck Showalter-inspired Mets-branded windbreaker. It also might possibly mean the first 15,000 all get to personally experience Buck Showalter breaking wind. That's a possibility too. The winners of the https://phpbb3.leaptoad.com/mets/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=32746Mets minor-league awards, which need a new, non-Sterling-affiliated name, will be in the house and invited to collectively throw out a bunch of first pitches.
  6. A .421 career on-base percentage is hard to ignore. A hunnert and sixty homers and 639 walks at 25? I'm not sure that's the direction they're going in, but that's actually who'd be coming over and the PEDs are well masked, I'm sure they'll think long and hard.
  7. Kevin Kierst, man! Kevin Kierst! There's, like, this great big database devoted to these guys.
  8. Lefty swinger, too. [fimg=550]https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-images/image/private/t_16x9/t_w1024/mlb/h6dgj0oe26vpjvgi9gdl[/fimg]
  9. In theory, anyhow. What's interesting to me is that eight has been seemingly mothballed since 2002, but 16 and 18 — both in wide circulation right up until last season — are now getting the historical nod, speeding past eight on the superhighway of numerical legacy.
  10. That's as solid a reason as any. Sloppiness is contagious.
  11. There's a pretty large club of middle-aged Baltimoreans — probably more women than men — given the name "Brooks" in his honor, and a meaningful handful of "Robinsons" also. Also sharing that honor is Twins first base prospect Brooks Lee and Washington Capitals center Brooks Laich, despite the former being from California and the latter from Saskatchewan. I haven't seen anything that says that Brooks Raley was named for him, but I haven't seen anything that says he wasn't. And in fact, since his dad was a minor league player, I'm just going to go ahead and assume that he was.
  12. Locastro probably should have batted, but Ortega got it done. Álvarez up as the tying run. He gets on, I guess they'll be happy they save Locastro to pinch-run.
  13. A blown homerun call from Gary!!
  14. But suddenly Baty's the reliable defender!
  15. Big day with the bat, but Lindor is gakking on defense today.
  16. Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Guggenheim Museum building, fellas.
  17. Bickford saved by a crappy strike-three call. It's a pretty impressive pitch that can not only get a strike-three call despite missing the plate, but also take the opposition thirdbaseman and manager out of the game.
  18. Maybe Bickford should have stayed on the toity.
  19. =Fman99 post_id=138353 time=1695861773 user_id=86] Dangit, I missed HR #30 because I was on the toilet
  20. Hit it to Soler, Pete!
  21. That was about as long a shutout inning can be for Smith.
  22. That was a terrible scoring call. Also, DeJesus looks like a Venezuelan Joey Lucchesi.
  23. Frayed Knot wrote: Did Brooks write lefty? That seems to be the exact sort of thing Rockwell — who was known to work with stand-in models along with photos of his subject — might mess up, but apparently, Brooks indeed did write lefthanded.
