It'll take a really impressive reversal of fortune at this point for Jacob deGrom to get there, however.

Well, I give him credit, that he had enough gas left to get over and cover first. And he threw enough that he might not appear the rest of the series. But, man.

I'm laboring a bit myself.

Brazobán only knows one way to pitch, and that's to labor.

Busted open in the ninth.

I think Winkie got in a fight with the Pads when he was a Redleg. Austin Jones keeps calling the outside slider for strikes, and it's killing Álvarez, because he's trying to stop swinging at that pitch.

A good time to have a contact hitter up and that bails out Garrett as Arraez grounds into two.

Garrett likes a good nibbling opportunity.

One out in the seventh and Cease finally chased.

Sevvy is down to throwing almost exclusively sliders, and he may be done after five innings and 87 pitches.

And the Mets get two outs on a bases-loaded scorcher. If they can get out of this with only one run home, then happiness.

If you're up, you're watching the Pads brewing up trouble in the fifth.

Look at the English on that RBI infield single by Jeff!

Great to get a second run, but I'm wondering why Iglesias and Machado were canoodling at third.

Mets are suddenly addicted to doubles.

Gosh. Odd time to quit. Mariner Holla-Fame catcher Dan Wilson takes over, despite no managing experience at any level. A special-assignment scout the last few years. Joey Votto, who should get a suite in Cooperstown, announces his retirement.

Those sliders for strikes two and three against Cronenworth have been Sevvy's best pitches yet. But crap, here comes Machado.

Pretty funny that, for a few years, the Padres have had the lineup filled with converted shortstops at every position, but they have a 30-year-old rookie with no prior MLB starts going at shortstop tonight.

Dubble #3. Bring him home, Lindor.

Hard hit balls all over the inning, but only one run.

BOOM! 1-0!

Fired up with a leadoff dubble!
