  1. Instead I'm adopting this kid:
  2. Oh, I'm sure his goofbaggery is far more common than I want to think about. As is his Yankee crap. But I see no further reason for me to indulge his callow young life. The prayers, the hot meals, the laundry, it's all been a waste and I ask you to speak no more of him.
  3. He got dressed is what happened.
  4. Well, Damien, it's been fun. But now you're going take your Yankee-loving ways and your overinflated sense of your youthful self and get the hell out.
  5. I was a little less impressed. I give it a bunch of credit for it's scale and it's ability to get that many names in one cast. But I also have to admit that more than a few of those names are guys who never impress me. There were a lot of directors, but some of the blocking in the non-combat scenes looked like you were watching a musical and they were setting up a big song and dance number. Part of that is probably Richard Beymer (Tony from West Side Story) monologuing.
  6. I haven't seen the film, but, given a chance, I'd've have voted Samantha Fox.
  7. Wow, five stars from the Coo.
  8. Ike played that AFL season while a friend was dying of cancer. Ike was there for him, and so were other guys, rallying around Mike, Ron said. Ike was playing in the Arizona Fall League, and as soon as the game was over he would go back to the hospice and sit with Michael, spend the night with him and leave at 9 the next morning, go drive out and play a ballgame, and then do the same thing. So, he went about four or five nights, when it got real bad, without even sleeping. Read more: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/yankees/son_of_former_yankee_zFt1YQx3BgMqUjUhl30MXL#ixzz0YDbDC3oU
  9. The D-Day invasion is re-enacted by an ensemble crowd of over-the-top actors.
  10. The interesting thing is, assuming they keep Wright and Reyes around, three of their top candidates are coming down the pike as middle infielders now. Certainly it tells me to not get tied down with no long-termy expensive deals with another secondbaseman. Invest in the outfield.

  12. I'm surprised these made it until '88. (I guess that means some will be narrated by Fran Healy.) The last one I remember must've been '82, featuring a walk-off extra-inning jack by Ron Gardenhire.
  13. And to dupe for your friends!
  14. Is Damien gonna kill somebody? Damien Magnifico Yup it about that time unfortunately.. But gotta do what needs to be done
  15. That's a great page. Seems like to get over 50 memories, you have as good a chance by being hated as you do by being loved. Guys who were both --- Gooden, Franco, Strawberry --- do particularly well, as do guys who had afterlives as managers or broadcasters. Most Memorialized Mets[/bigpurple] 1 Mike Piazza 121 2 Tom Seaver 116 3 Dave Kingman 102 4 Keith Hernandez 101 5 Rusty Staub 95 6 Dwight Gooden 93 7 David Wright 87 8 Len Dykstra 86 9 Lee Mazzilli 85 10 Ed Kranepool 83 11 Darryl Strawberry 79 T-12 Jerry Koosman 78 T-12 Kevin McReynolds 78 14 Bruce Boisclair 76 15 John Franco 74 16 Bobby Valentine 72 T-17 Roberto Alomar 71 T-17 Mo Vaughn 71 19 Howard Johnson 69 20 Jose Reyes 67 21 Tom Glavine 66 22 Willie Randolph 65 23 Tommie Agee 64 24 Gary Carter 63 T-25 Robin Ventura 62 T-25 Mookie Wilson 62 27 Jerry Grote 61 T-28 Jeromy Burnitz 60 T-28 Steve Trachsel 60 T-30 Bobby Bonilla 58 T-30 Gregg Jefferies 58 T-32 Ron Darling 56 T-32 John Stearns 56 34 Ron Swoboda 55 35 Ron Hodges 54 T-36 Wally Backman 53 T-36 Cleon Jones 53 T-36 Ty Wigginton 53 T-39 Edgardo Alfonzo 51 T-39 Armando Benitez 51 T-39 Sid Fernandez 51 T-39 Richie Hebner 51 T-39 Felix Millan 51 44 Doug Sisk 50 Interesting that Bud Harrellson --- despite a long career as a player; an afterlife as a coach, manager, broadcaster; the key role in one of the most famous, if not the most famous, fights in Mets history; a high-profile post baseball career in the area as Duck owner; and being touched by notorious tabloid news --- is still so non-descript that he doesn't make this list. In fact, he has fewer memories posted (32) than Allen F. Watson (40).
  16. Damien Magnifico I love standing on the mound wit a baseball In my hand standing 60 feet away from a guy wit a club in his hand knowing he can't touch me!
  17. Exactly and Pat Zachry. She seems to think she's carved this niche as the one who walks the line between exploitation and empowerment. Her publicist will tell you that she's seizing the vehicles of exploitation and turning them into weapons of empowerment, or something, but that's just self-serving revisionist nonsense. Charlie's Angels is Charlie's Angels is Charlie's Angels. Own it. Hey, Drew. I'm just not that into you.
  18. Yeah, but I mean in terms of serving myself as filmgoer, thus the adverb "insultingly."
  19. I have trouble imagining Drew Barrymore presenting anything that isn't, sort of, insultingly dumb. Am I alone there?
  20. If it meant a World Series victory over the Yankees, I'd gladly take that punch.
  21. Did any of this come true?
  22. Classiest design from that era: Most understatedly elegant design from that era: Most generically ugly design from that era: Bleh! Design from that era that gives me the most warm fuzzies:
  23. Not really. He was far better in May. It's a month. Anybody can win. Pagan, f'rinstance.
  24. I think I voted for Marlon once. But it probably turned out to be statistically insignificant. Heartbreaking that nobody could break through David's open door.
  25. Made me not want to eat. I don't know how the food phantasmagoria would play in the mind of an active six-year-old imagination, but it would have freaked out mine.
