Hell, the minor leaguers ONLY play the Nats and the Fish I think. Bring some of them along (second bus) and play some minor leaguers against the Red Sox too. I think better yet would be the high school sports model --- where the JV travels to the same school the varsity is hosting, and when the varsity travels, the JV hosts the team coming from that school. If the Mets minor leaguers are in Jupiter or Dunedin for a few days, it means a few fields and dormitories are available for big league visitors to futz around on or in. Vice versa.

Not for nothing, but it isn't baseball that we're spreading. Japan has been baseball-mad since the 1930s, probably earlier, in many ways to a degree that would shame us. What we're spreading is MLB's affiliated brands.

St. Lue was an enticing business deal with the community rolling over for them. The number of crimes great and small committed against St. Lucians by bored stupid Mets personnel over the years has got to have become a constant source of embarrassment to any civic leaders still living. Anyhow, the Mets do play the Yankees this year and seem committed to keeping the series going beyond the season. I have no problem with the Mets farming out Dickey so as not to give the Phillies too good a look at his magic before the season starts. I always thought, with facilities as big as they are, teams should just take three-game trips to each other's facilities. While the travel contingent is in town, the host team would give them two or three fields to continue their workouts on, they'd be willing to travel further without the one-day turnaround, and the players would love the access to new golf courses.

Omar's 160 hits short of 3,000.

And... check.

Nah, they just corral enough usta-be-goods that some of them shake out. Many others do not.

And we go in order in the ninth. Somebody start the next IGT NOW!!!!

One run ballgame in the ninth, and Rottino pinch-hits for Davis. That's the sort of thing we can expect to see more of.

Smets get one back in the bottom of the eighth as Moiphy singles in Tehotta. We're in the ninth with Acosta pitching the top half of the frame.

Chris Young rehabbed with Mark Prior and claims that Prior is ready to sign somewhere also.

Mets plate one on a Duda triple.

Well, his creditors and wife need to be paid first, but sure. As for spending on players, a lot of the contracts are already in place, and if the revenue is there --- and it should be --- the budget should be large.

Down 2-0 with one hit through four innings. Can somebody elbus please start one of these things?

Mets gwine order in the bottom of the inning.

I guess so, then. In my experience, it's not typically the pretty good dinks that get you at second, it's either you get out of the way or get a traumatic injury. Black or white.

No out, two on and Niese K's Ryan Zimmermann and Jayson Werth, who is looking, um, like this: Grab some pine, Chewy.

I dun think so. They probably want at least one guy on the roster who isn't faking it. I'm really intrigued by Valdespin as a middle-infield/middle-outfield hybrid utility guy.

Mariners have a good chance to hold down first for a week at least.

It speaks of the larger issue of concourse competition --- something that every new ballpark seeminlgy opens with the promise of, and that promise pretty regularly fades with the reality of the value of an exclusive marketplace.
