Unless they're speaking of him batting second in the inning. And still, then, it's relevance and meaning are questionable. What can you conclude from that? Have they just gone through the data until they can serve up a slice for each Met that makes them look like Ted Williams? That feels like something the Nats' scoreboard would do.
  2. Red Legs and Blue Jays.

  4. Jair Jurjenns vs. R.A. Dickey. Curacao vs. Kilimanjaro. Look for Kirk Nieuenhuis to get the call and make his big league debut starting and leading off.
  5. I'm just tickled that there's 15 folks voting in this poll. Let's face it, the CPF has been deader than Albany on a Tuesday night. I think Valdespin has shown as much readiness for the bigs. I'd like to see Nieuwenhuis get some work at AAA. He was only healthy enough to get into 53 games last year.
  6. Well, I'm sorry if I was being unclear. The posty-quotey thing (it was I who introduced the subject) was in response to Ceetar, who had quoted the post he was responding to, like 18 times in 20 posts, despite him almost invariably responding to the post immediately preceding his. It just, to me, interrupts the flow, to have everything repeated pointlessly. But clarity is king to me. If it aids clarity, go to it. I'm in the minority and it's all good.
  7. I wasn't speaking of your hammer at all. You wielded no such tool in your post. Maybe a Jerry sieve, but that's it.

  9. And that is, and always shall be, the problem. Howard Johnson had twice the Mets career that Carter had. You want to advocate for his number retirement, that's fine, but there are plenty of issues involved. Let's not take a solemn occasion to bring the fuck-you hammer down on the other side.
  10. According to Rubin, Torres has told him directly that he's heading to the List.
  11. Matt Tuiasosopo.
  12. That's some good outside-the-box thinking, boy. Check "Other," if you will. A righthanded guy, though, only doubles down on the pressure on Baxter. Not having your discerning eye for the waiver wire, I'm checking the Valdespin box. He's my adoptee, he's versatile, he could use the emotional boost of a brief callup, he can pinch-run, and he probably would've gotten his hacks in during that at-bat. Loewen would seem to be the guy you're going for if you want more extra-basiness. I think versatility, aggressiveness, and contact could be more of an asset at this time.
  13. Um, yeah, let's Fuck Up Funky Winkerbean! Yeah!
  14. FAN listeners. Happy with the Josh?
  15. Andres Torres has the only Met run of the season and he cashed it in on the way to what looks like the disabled list. Our number five hitter looked a little frozen in the headlights on his lone at-bat. And they're going to need him all the more now. OE: Look at all those letters!
  16. Wow, .647 on opening day. Almost no negativity. Gary had to go out and play the "looks like Benitez" card, but other than that, a huge cultural positive. Competitiveness-wise, we're thin on outfielders, and our lefthanded sluggers didn't get it done. Did Davis drop his hands toward his crotch as the pitcher started his windup last year?
  17. Met 922: Ronny Cedeo. Give him a call.
  18. I didn't see Ronny in there. Double switch? I say Frank. If two guys debut on defense simultaneously, we go with their defensive position number, right?
  19. The name's Francisco. Not Benitez. I like saved ballgames and papas fritas. Met 921.
  20. Wow. LOOGys on fire today.
  21. Using Baxter and Hairston, the Mets don't have a defensive sub available for Duda.
  22. Jon Rauch, Met #920 and the biggest of them all.
