  1. Sure, but we need to come around to the idea that our feelings of familiarity were never going to float this franchise for very long. They need to make new connections with a new audience, and they saw a new park as the way to do it. I disagreed with that. I was in the minority.
  2. Mitchell Boggs is a good name. If I'm going to a trucks-in-the-mud rally, I'm bringing Mitchell Boggs.
  3. Yeah, but that's the thing, the more you ask of the bullpen, the worse it will suck, every time. Don't look for new combos, ask more of the starters. Make any relievers force their way into the conversation. That's all I can think of. Not sure how much it would have helped last night. What a lousy job.
  4. Well, somebody bailed from the optimism bandwagon. As we have our first vote that has him signing with the Cartidgersox. Anybody want to own up to andn discuss that vote? Some options I didn't include in the poll: Wright will sign his next deal... ...as an extension with some other team during the 2012 season after being traded by the Mets in 2012. ...as an extension with some other team during the 2012-2013 offseason after being traded by the Mets in 2012. ...as a free agent with some other team during the 2012-2013 offseason after the Mets opt not to pick up his option. ...as a free agent with some other team during the 2012-2013 offseason after being traded by the Mets in 2012, and the team he's traded to failing to extend him. ...as an extension with some other team during the 2013 season after being traded by the Mets in 2013. ...as an extension with some other team during the 2013-14 offseason after being traded by the Mets in 2012. ...as a free agent with some other team during the 2013-2014 offseason after being traded by the Mets in 2012, and the team he's traded to failing to extend him.
  5. The team has done a good job punching in AAA players, but making them fit on paper and getting them coordinated with the team thang are two different issues. Onward. Day off. Good day to sign a thirdbaseman.
  6. Murphy does his part. Three straight two-out hits. Keep at it, Mets. You have tomorrow off.
  7. That's ugly. But don't miss your Mets last stand. Rallying in the ninth, within five with two outs. Tying run=Rottino.
  8. That's right, Duda. Defy the darkness.
  9. When the 15th man bats in the inning, Geico will remind us that in 15 minutes, we can save 15% on our baseball insurance.
  10. Well, this isn't the ending I planned.
  11. Well, hasn't lost that much. You don't need Acosta to put a game out of reach.
  12. Well, at least Terry is taking being within a run seriously. Not quite helping as much as I'd like. Double play depth on a lefthanded Rollins? Has he lost that much?
  13. I support shallow play (Ralph Kiner always encouraged me to), but one should probably back up with two out.
  14. How poorly executed was Torres' play on that?
  15. Flurb. Oh, fwell, we'll get it back.
  16. Eight of eight voters say he'll be extended before opening day 2013. What a lousy bunch of Met-hating pessimist you guys are!
  17. 5. The narrative around this team, right or wrong, has been so negative, that even when positive things happen, many potential customers respond cautiously.
  18. Brian Schneider, offensive machine.
  19. I've been thinking for years that Howie was over-rated by you chumps, but I take that back. Now that he's been de-Wayned, I'm coming around to the idea that he's a top-shelf broadcaster, who hasn't, since Gary Cohen went TV, had a partner who got his references, and allowed him to be who he is.
  20. That's the good sort of Dudabomb.
  21. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Yesterday. Well, I can tell you on reasonably good authority that he wasn't signed yesterday.
  22. People don't want to make predictions, but a lot of opinions nonetheless going around. Let's get it out there. It'll be healthy.
  23. Oh, snap! Stony Brook showdown! Seawolves assemble!
