  1. Ryan Sandoval starts the sixth with a single for Vegas. Back in Trenton, we have a walk by Tajeiron follow'd by a Celiliani Cingle. Forsythe bunts 'em over and we have second and third, one out for Cesar Tovar.
  2. Corona flies to Ceceliani in center and Al Castillo follows asuit. We go to extras. Ambidextrous Pat Venditte on for the Baby Bombers, with Travis Tejieron due to lead off.
  3. Took seven pitches, but Gamel goes down swinging. One away and Reegie Corona up. "Reegie"?
  4. Kyle Roller leads off with a single against Bradford. Trenton replaces him with pinch-runner Casey Stevenson. Ben Gamel at the plate.
  5. Bradford takes the mound for the ninth in Trenton.
  6. Salt Lake plated two in the bottom of the fourth, including one on a bases-loaded, two out walk. The 51s escaped the inning without further damage, but now cling to a 3-2 lead.
  7. Mo's nephew whiffs, and we go to the bottom of the ninth. Chasen Bradford struck out two in a perfect eighth, so we'll see if Pedro Lopez sticks with him.
  8. Ninth-inning action in Trenton. Dykstra on for the third time (at first), with two out and Cory Vaughn up.
  9. But Paul Sewald finishes the ninth for Luis Rojas' Sand Gnats. An utter dismantling of Augusta , 10-2. Three hits each from Maikis De La Cruz and Stefan Sabol, with two-hit games from Eudy Pina, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff Reynolds, and Albert Cordero. The lone homerun came from shortstop Phil Evans.
  10. Kingsport, in a best of three series, was tied one game apiece, and leading 3-2 with two out in the ninth in game three, before allowing five runs to score and Tennessee dreams to die (DIE!!) Ricardo Jacquez and Robert Coles failed to stem the tide in the ninth. The former had already pitched two innings before losing control in his third. He had had a pretty dominant season (1.74 ERA in 22 1/3 IP, with 33 SO and 9 BB, and a .162 BAA. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2013_09_03_gvlrok_kptrok_1&t=g_box&sid=t506 Not meant to be.
  11. The Gnats have themselves a best-o-three divisional series. They are relentlessly pounding (POUNDING) Augusta 10-2 in the top of the ninth. Gabriel Ynoa was typically greatish. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2013_09_04_savafx_augafx_1&t=g_box&did=milb&sid=t543
  12. Binghamton taking on their Yankee affiliate counterparts in the Eastern League Eastern Division Series. They are tied in Game One (best-o-five) 303 in the top of the eighth. They have the bases loaded with one out. Frank Francisco has pitched an inning in relief of Noah Syndergaaaaard. http://www.milb.com/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_09_04_lvgaaa_slcaaa_1&mode=gameday
  13. Minor League Playoff Action! Las Vegas entering into a best-o-five series conference championship series against Salt Lake. They lead Game One 3-0 in the fourth with Matt Fox on the mouth. http://www.milb.com/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_09_04_lvgaaa_slcaaa_1&mode=gameday
  14. I mightn't agree with you had the interview come before Monday's game. After, though.... Daisuke is one lucky soldier to still be standing.
  15. And his "fun" comment came with the caveat of every fifth day being ugly, so it's a little unfair to challenge that comment immediately after that fifth day.
  16. G-Fafif wrote: He was one of my early guesses but I remembered a rounder as well as bespectacled Lockwood and thought, "nah..." Yeah, I also remember his hair to be straight and stringy and his eyes to be a bit sickly.
  17. Probably still thought of himself as a bit of hitter in his Pilots days.
  18. "An outfielder might have had to fall down, and trip, and fall down again for me to get a triple." ---Lukey Duda on thinking about the cycle
  19. And please drive safely. That's two crisp games, following the MOST EXCRUCIATING GAME EVER.
  20. Andrelton Simony pops out. Two down.
  21. Frayed Knot wrote: So where are our odds of pulling out this game? I'm thinking it's around 50/50 LaHawk Troykins on for the ninth and yields a one-out dubble. Tying run on deck.
  22. Black is Black, but I want my Bobby back.
  23. Chillin' Gee coming out in the eighth. Vic Black on. den Dekker coming on for defense, with Lagares swinging over to right for Brownie. Operation Impermeability.
  24. It's that famous Met flash in the pan, Boris DeSpider.
  25. Sliding Billy Hamlton called up by Cincinnati after 395 minor league stolen bases. Debuts as a pinch-runner, steals second (against Yadier Molina, no less), and scores the game's only run in a win for the Reds in a game with serious post-season implications. I'm perhaps in the minority, but I kinda like expanding rosters. (Inexplicably offended that the Reds have minor league teams that wear any color but red.)
