  1. You see this? Not as funny as all that, but Gardy has a good poker face.
  2. I'm not sure how that's lol.
  3. Brad Emaus --- After failing in his attempt to secure the Mets second base job, he ended up in Colorado Springs and tore the place apart. Returning to the Mets (his re-signing was announced along with the signing of Fred Lewis) in 2012, he was dreadful for the Bisons, going .212 / .297 / .315 // .612. Didn't play in 2013. Loved his country and nearly died for it. By which I mean that he was nearly crushed to death at a Brad Paisley concert. I would consider him retarred. Willie Harris --- In 44 2014 plate appearances, he went .114 / .170 / .205 // .375. I'm sorry, but that's just a hard thing to do.
  4. 102-59. That August 18 game against the Cubs will be called after HOURS of trying to wait out the rain. It won't be necessary to make it up as the team will finish nine games ahead of Braves. The Nationals will be a depressing also-ran that will provoke pity from all of baseball. They will never stop hearing about sitting Strasburg during the 2012 post-season. Never. The Mets will win the championship in an epic seven-game struggle over the Twins. Terry will begin transforming down the stretch, and then in the post-season we'll see it, the hyper-competitive dick that he was reputed to be but hasn't been for three years. Then, in the celebratory interview, he'll go so far out his way to praise Gardenhire --- there'll be actual tears --- that you'll wonder if he's Gardenhire's father or something. The Yankees will be awful, but fans will spin it as part of a brilliant re-organization strategy.
  5. Oh... Shayla was part of the cast of Baseball Wives. How... about that?
  6. I certainly want to see Mejia get a chance to prove that his sweet month in the starting rotation last year wasn't an illusion. I don't want to see him relegated to the pen, but I'm going to have to trust the Mets on this one, because (1) I can't speak to the shape of Mejia's elbow, and (2) I think probably everybody involved in the decision is working from a better thought process than Jerry Manuel ever was.
  7. Great lighting in that baseball card photo, huh?
  8. Now, Brown/Doodoo --- that would be a funny platoon.
  9. Hey, yeah, welcome back, Mister Mxyzptlk.
  10. For the first time in team history, the Mets will be adding a second hitting coach, a trend that's been spreading through MLB. In fact, they become the 20th team to add such a position. The practice wasn't started by Tony LaRussa, but he did apparently popularize it, as you may have guessed. Welcome to the fold, Luis Natera. After 24 years in the system and seven as the hitting coach for Bingo, you certainly deserve your shot. In fact, you may be the last-ever Little Falls Met to debut in the Majors.
  11. "Dick-K"? Ouch.
  12. Interesting to see Nieuwenhuis sent down on the same day dD. He really worked himself back into the picture. Solid spring.
  13. Yeah, I'm having trouble counting who the four guys ahead of them are, and I got, Gee, Colon, Wheeler, and nobody.
  14. I was a little leery as it stretched the rules a bit. Some moxie in doing so, though. Maybe somebody should have tried to do all of side two of Abbey Road as a single parody.
  15. Zvon wrote: I still like Ike. .267 / 33 HR / 88 RBI That'd be hard. To get that many homers with enough hits to bat .267, and still get less than 90 RBI.
  16. Looks like a try is indeed what he's going to get.
  17. More often than not? I bet he wouldn't.

I meant to write "Book of Sandy." I thought I wrote "Book of Sandy." My wife was on the phone saying I'm waiting downstairs at the time I typed that. I stand by the point I meant to make. Seriously, if only that were Omar's worst day..
  19. D.J. Carrasco --- Perhaps the least impressive chapter in the Book of Omar, D.J. got released in the middle of his second season of a 2(!!!)-year-deal. He caught on with Braves and was released again within the month. I don't see where there was an official announcement of a retirement, but then again, retiring people was never D.J.'s strong suit. Anyhow, his representatives at Gaylord Sports list him as retired. All the more time to concentrate on his audio blog.
  20. I'm going to guess "aPFwDT" is a Scott Boras' racquetball partner.
  21. Well, it's 4:48 on Friday, so... I'll take 1-5. Manny Acosta --- pitched for the Yomiuri Giants in 2013. Last seen appearing on the Norwegian version of The Voice, singing "Burn" by Usher, and absolutely killing it. Rod Barajas --- announced his retirement in early March and was announced to be a new minor league skipper in the Pirates system. Was part of the makeup department on the Thor sequel. Miguel Batista --- played a handful of AAA games in 2013, but got no call from Toronto. Released in May. Perhaps concentrating on his side career writing poetry and horror novels. (That one is actually true.) Miguel Cairo --- spent the last three years utility playing for the Reds, and faked it more or less for the first two, before becoming just about the worst albatross in baseball as a 38-year-old in 2013. Got more PT in doing so than you might expect from a team going places. Reds thanked him by making him a special assitant to Walt Jocketty, the sort of job a team gives usually to a retired legend. Teh rReds gave it to Miguel Cairo. Also likes to sculpt in his spare time... AND FIRE IS HIS MEDIUM.
  22. Lutz may be competing with Brownie for a spot as righthanded bat off the bench.
  23. metirish wrote: Hold on, C. J. Nitkowski has not appeared since 2005 http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/n/nitkoc.01.shtml C.J. gave the Mets some minor league innings in 2012.
  24. Many of dese mokes have already announced retirement. Wheeler, the Schneid, Mota. Val Pascucci is coaching for the Mets in the minors this year. I have a theory that Fred Lewis was never supposed to play for the Mets, and only ended up in the lineup a handful of times due to an unchecked clerical error that somebody finally flagged.
