  1. Pictures, descriptions and accounts available in their entirety here until somebody at MLB gets wise. Mazzilli comes up at about 2:58:00. Hernandez, who was just talking about his appearance in this game, comes up three batters later, after Winfield fans and Carter pops to second, around 3:03:00. Keith mentioned earlier in the booth that he lost his composure after the first pitch was called a strike despite being "a foot and a half outside." The first pitch in fact is on the outside corner, but looks more or less OK. It's the next one, called a strike despite being inside, that looks to be the one that gets Keith rattled, as he turns around to question the ump. 8SWY14RRQYw
  2. That summary d'Kong posted failed to tell me it was Stupid Uniform Night.
  3. I remember a sparsely attended Mets game in the Ralph and Tim era, where they kept cutting to a crusty old guy smoking a stogie in the upper deck. [list:3h9xwaqs] [/list:u:3h9xwaqs] I'm sure there's a waiver on his ticket somewhere that says your image is the property of the broadcasters for the duration of the game, or somesuch.
  4. Sangre de Joven.
  5. No ASGs for the ninth guy though. Time to Matsusack up.
  6. Would have been interesting to do the pitcher-batting-eight thing, with Granderson leading off and all.
  7. Richie Smashburn.
  8. Rustic Staub, an All-Star in his last year before coming to the Mets, and an All-Star in his first year after leaving the Mets. Nothing but an absolute gem, who kept us more than even, in between. (Damn: beaten to the punch while monologuing.)
  9. Interesting. Beltran was relatively pedestrian his first year with the Mets, and stellar (when on the field) thereafter. Gilkey was stellar his first year, got a nice contract and was almost never good again.
