They hid in the tunnel. Only ones I saw in the dugout were Lamar Johnson and Wally Backman, though Gary said Murphy was there to greet him. He ran past murphy to an empty dugout, so Lamar and Wally halfhearted waved towels and he ran the full length anyhow. It was kinda creepy in it's own way.

It seems obvious that a 40-second pause during a ballgame has nothing to do with a statue. I don't know what to do with that bowels crack. I disagree certainly. Sheesh, Alderson is both too aloof and a control freak? It's a 40-second pause. It's simply being decent. It's also the sot of thing that's done all over baseball, by all sorts of managers with all sorts of control over their own bowels.
  5. Mike F. Cubbage.
  6. The Mets didn't do anything. Didn't do anything but allow him to use their press room to announce his retirement, I guess. Terry, who loves the guy and was his first manager, did something. He threw him a start --- over Eric Young, big whoop --- and pinch-ran for him after a single. Perfectly fine with me. Briefly pausing to salute a long and productive career ending on the last day, even --- Bobby Abreu, Todd Zeile, or Willie Randolph --- is everything they incorrectly say about Jeter. It's classy.
  7. Keith calls another.
  8. Bully to you, Bubby.
  9. That was pretty cool. Pointing to the Mets logo: double cool.
  10. Going to the park wearing an actual Casey Stengel jersey. That's hardcore.
  11. Satin has hand fracture, unavailable September, 28, 2014 NEW YORK -- Josh Satin's season will end watching from the dugout. Satin hurt his right hand, near the wrist, when he was hit by a pitch at Cincinnati on Sept. 5. With the issue nagging, Satin recently decided to undergo an X-ray and MRI. That revealed a fracture. Satin will not need surgery to reset the bone, but must be idle for six weeks. He went 0-for-6 with four strikeouts the remainder of the month after getting plunked by the pitch from Daniel Corcino.
  12. That's 200 innings for Bart. ERA down to 4.04.
  13. Man, Murphy popped up a meatball.
  14. Hey, Abreu's one millionth career walk.

A friend of my friend is my enemy. I think Altuve's in there. No, sorry, I was booing the notion as invoked by Gary. Bottom of the order manufactures a go-ahead run, baby.

  17. Villar didn't look to have gotten the tag down there.
  18. Number 253 was Todd Zeile.
  19. Man, get dD in center.
  20. That unknown starting pitcher is Seawolf's BFF from Stony Brook. Altuve attempting to win a batting title on his butt. Boo to that.
  21. We'll have to learn about him.
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: Wright d'Arnaud Lagares Herrera deGrom Eveland Black Add Josh Satin (fractured hand, presumably from towel-waving) and Kirk Nieuwenhuis (mysterious infection --- related to passing kidney stone?) to the list of Mets coming back from the campaign on their shields.
  23. So, has anybody else found John Franco's act to be as awful as I have? Mumbles half-baked jock cliche platitudes in New Yorkese with no regard for the pacing. "What I've notice this year, Howie, is de Mets are afraid tuh brush people back." Franco is very Jeteresque in that he always seems so conscious of a certain pre-constructed image in projecting his personality that he has very little personality left.
