  1. Going with ten, reviewing this forum (which covers, at best, half of the decade), I've got: 1) Wall-E 2) The Station Agent 3) Gran Torino 4) The Wonder Boys 5) Superbad 6) Sideways 7) Adventureland 8) The Incredibles 9) Once 10) Um, Hitch, I guess Given half a chance, I'm sure I'd pull half of those, but that's where I am right now.
  2. Oh, wow, he was the stupid sad sack in Dog Day Afternoon? That guy? With that face, he could have worked as a character actor for 40 years.
  3. My first two guesses, which I correctly expected would turn out wrong: Martin Scorcese's father. Lee Strassburg. Both had a somewhat longer list of credits than I expected.
  4. LeiterWagner, I'll roll with Valdez over Cora, but no room for Sean Green?
  5. It seemed silly to see Redding above Hernandez, but I checked the stats and they support that ranking. (I'd be tempted to put Maine above Livan also.) The argument in Hernandez's support is that most of Redding's production, such as it was, came too late to be of much use.
  6. Wait, was Valadius writing on his own or copying from the press release?
  7. My wife, also a big fan of Hank and Office Space, explains: "The plot as outlined in the trailer --- guy isn't getting any at home, develops a crush on cutiepie underling, gets advice from loser buddy who suddenly appears wise --- seems kind of sitcommy and hard to sustain beyond the standard sitcom 22-minute running time." As for "Ben Affleck, you suck," Wifey says, "Duh!"
  8. Good job. Where does Reed fall? He's kind of stuck in the middle of Sullivan's name.
  9. Yup. Parnell was effective as a reliever, and ineffective as a starter pretty much after the Mets had thrown in the towel by shutting Santana down.
  10. In recent weeks, Stoner has been buzzed about the blogosphere as a dark horse for the Mets rotation. Really good control, but like Pelfrey, having trouble finding an out pitch. He's the second-ever Met born in Germany, joining Ron Gardenhire in the small fraternity of ÜberMets.
  11. Switzer, like Ken Tak, was auditioned for the hard-to-fill second-lefty-out-of-the-pen role.
  12. There were a million of them. Feel free to rank them all. I just need your top 30. In reviewing this list, I was surprised to find out the guy I had most forgotten about was Ken Takahashi. 13. Mark Healy just befriended D-Maggz.
  14. Instead I'm adopting this kid:
  15. Oh, I'm sure his goofbaggery is far more common than I want to think about. As is his Yankee crap. But I see no further reason for me to indulge his callow young life. The prayers, the hot meals, the laundry, it's all been a waste and I ask you to speak no more of him.
  16. He got dressed is what happened.
  17. Well, Damien, it's been fun. But now you're going take your Yankee-loving ways and your overinflated sense of your youthful self and get the hell out.
  18. I was a little less impressed. I give it a bunch of credit for it's scale and it's ability to get that many names in one cast. But I also have to admit that more than a few of those names are guys who never impress me. There were a lot of directors, but some of the blocking in the non-combat scenes looked like you were watching a musical and they were setting up a big song and dance number. Part of that is probably Richard Beymer (Tony from West Side Story) monologuing.
  19. I haven't seen the film, but, given a chance, I'd've have voted Samantha Fox.
  20. Wow, five stars from the Coo.
  21. Ike played that AFL season while a friend was dying of cancer. Ike was there for him, and so were other guys, rallying around Mike, Ron said. Ike was playing in the Arizona Fall League, and as soon as the game was over he would go back to the hospice and sit with Michael, spend the night with him and leave at 9 the next morning, go drive out and play a ballgame, and then do the same thing. So, he went about four or five nights, when it got real bad, without even sleeping. Read more: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/yankees/son_of_former_yankee_zFt1YQx3BgMqUjUhl30MXL#ixzz0YDbDC3oU
  22. The D-Day invasion is re-enacted by an ensemble crowd of over-the-top actors.
  23. The interesting thing is, assuming they keep Wright and Reyes around, three of their top candidates are coming down the pike as middle infielders now. Certainly it tells me to not get tied down with no long-termy expensive deals with another secondbaseman. Invest in the outfield.
