Well, looks like Rosario has a backhand after all.

And replay reopening a scoreless inning, and it turns into a three run inning.

Did I miss where Bruce was hurt and/or traded?

I like Sandy, and I mostly believe in him. But I have my concerns. 1) For an organization that has declared it's commitment to on-base percentage, they haven't produced it. Nor do they tend to honor it when a player demonstrates a capacity for it. 2) Relatedly, they've been faking it in the leadoff slot since 2011. Two thousand eleven!! That's just way too long to just be catching as catch can with such a vital role. 3) It's like the defense gets worse every season. 4) The minor league teams this season have almost uniformly terrible records. 5) There may or may not be a cocaine problem in the organization. 6) There is almost certainly is a young, arrogant, and invincible problem in the organization. 7) It takes stubborn-ness to believe that the injury rate is unconnected to the weight-training philosophy. I think they've let a fox in the henhouse with this Barwis character. 8) As Barwis is a Wilpon discovery, his continued presence speaks to Alderson's ability to manage up. Not that I believe too many other GM's would have the juice to manage up better. Curious if the one practical effect of giving him a "president of baseball operations" title would be him encroaching on Jeff's authority.

John Mora got caught stealing today in St. Lucie's extra-inning win. John gets the Lenny Randle Award for continuing to run despite a counter-productive efficiency, having now successfully stolen 15 times, against being caught 13 times, good for a 53.6% success rate.

Way too many Dodger fans in the house, too.

d'Arnaud hacking too.

And Reyes follows that up by swinging when he has no business swinging.

Four solo homers!

Particularly cruel if you were banking on the Pirates trading to re-acquire Neil Walker.

Hit and run clout for the Dodgers. 7-3.

Neil Walker debuting at first?

Yes, either or both.

Well, I don't know who Fact Monster is. These guys say otherwise: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/655028-the-splendid-splinter-and-the-50-best-nicknames-in-mlb-history Neither has a reference. At any rate, nobody suggested that being skinny prevents anybody from being a good hitter.

Things are stabilizing for the Las Vegas 51s, and by stabling, I mean that they aren't necessarily giving up crooked numbers in each of the first three innings of every game. But times are hard and they're hardest in Vegas, where winning six of their last 10 games still leaves the Aliens in fourth and last place, and 11 games out of third. The problem, you may well conclude, is mostly starting pitching. Their pitching staff of late has included the likes of Ricky Knapp (6.10 ERA in 23 starts), Donovan Hand (7.86 ERA in 12 starts), Wilfredo [crossout]Gascan[/crossout] Boscan (5.59 ERA in 20 starts), Mitch Atkins (7.50 ERA in 8 starts) and Blake Beavan (7.45 ERA in three starts). When Tyler Pill is with the Mets, every night is a long night for manager Pedro Lopez. But hey, occasionally, the dynamite desert offense keeps 'em in the game. You know, another thing attractive about Dominic Smith besides his lofty numbers, his girth, and his stoned-ass eyes, is his consistency, Dom hit .337 in April, .314 in May, .324 in June, and .385 in the heat of July. He's got 16 homers and 33 doubles and if they had gotten rid of one of their corner outfielders, he might have been called up before Amed Rosario. He probably deserved it. Also agitating for a promotion is Kevin F. Plawecki, hammering to the tune of .330 / .382 / .517 // .899. That's offense from a backstop. When's it gonna translate to the bigs? I DUNNO! But he's been a tough out all year, and just getting tougher. Travis Taijeron is having his usual sluggy year, sixth in the league with 22 homers, and really hitting well across the board, going .282 / .382 / .540 // .922. I don't really wanna hear nuthin' about him striking out too much (which he totally does, whiffing 123 times, only two behind league leader Patrick Wisdom of Memphis). The guy probably deserved a September look-see the last two years. He definitely deserves one now. The best relievers have mostly been called up. What you see is what you get, and that probably feeds into the Mets being satisfied in getting minor league bullpen help, if little else, at the deadline. Next year has to be better, relief-wise. I'm relatively certain that "Splendid Splinter" referred to Ted Williams' bat and not to his thin-ness.

Reyes pulling up on a race to first. Come on. Pretend like somebody's watching you dudes.

As we go to the break, you can hear Keith say, "That's just a stupid pitch," as they fade to a commercial.

Well, what this game really needed was not an Utley upper-decker. Coming back from 5-0 may be a little tougher tonight.

It's a night of strandos.

Amed Rosario has his own insignia for his family's hats?

Wow, Ollie Peréz!

When was our last pitcher stolen base?

And deG. seemed to find a hole up and in against Bellinger.
