Here's the earliest I could find of my referring to Harvey as a douchebag: http://archives.thecranepool.net/19400/f1_t19477.shtml You had him pegged earlier, when he showed up to his first camp in a Douchescalade. Here's the happiest I've ever seen this guy: [fimg=600]https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/-McJIOCe2wnJy7N8jHEPqCfvvtA=/0x166:681x620/1400x1050/filters:focal(0x166:681x620):format(png)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/31993377/harvey_middle_finger.0.png[/fimg]

Hey, Omar, it's Francisco Peña!

Yadier doesn't look right with his cap on playing the field.

Take a strike, guyzz. Even the pitcher is hacking.

We were supposed to win by seven tonight, not lose by seven. Or eight.

Walk rates are meaningless. Got it.

Qualcomm has been called dreamers, inventors, rebels, risk takers, pioneers and geeks. They embrace those labels because, in many ways, they’re true. They dream big. They invent bigger. And most importantly, they often do what many thought was impossible.

Vargas went four innings for Vegas Monday eve, allowing three runs, which is better than more than a few pitchers for the 51s this season. All the runs came in the third. He's rejoining the Mets tonight and is expected to be activated and take the start Saturday.

No, sir!

That's a beefy burden of proof. A lot of pitches! Maybe I should talk about Qualcomm.

I hear it's hot in Florida: St. Lucie Mets in 2018
Edgy MD replied to Edgy MD's topic in New York Mets Talk
St. Loo, currently trailing the Charlotte Stone Crabs 6-3 in the sixth inning, have pulled to 9-9, sitting 5 1/2 games off the pace in the Florida State League's South Division, having swept a double-header yesterday over those same Stone Crabs, pulling to 3-4 on the week. You watch St. Lucie and the guy you really want to keep your eye on is top prospect Andres Gimenez, and he's really responding to the pushing the Mets are giving him, holding his own at .273 / .338 / .409 // .747, despite being 3.5 years younger than the league average dude. He's knocked in eight and stolen five bases. The guy who is really leading the offense is outfielder Ian Strom. The 2016 22nd-rounder has mostly floated to this point, but is really taking charge with his bat and his legs, hitting .319 / .377 / .511 // .888, and stealing six bases. He won a game a few weeks back, coming up in the ninth, singling to center, stealing second, advancing to third as the throw got away, and scoring on a wild pitch. And ladies, he's single. Justin Dunn, finally healthy, is still showing signs of a breakout year in the rotation, but this bullpen is stacked like Sunday morning at IHOP, with Matt Blackham, Ryder Ryan, and Joseph Zanghi (who all sound like badasses) throwing 28 2/3 innings so far, allowing one run among them. That's a 0.31 ERA from those three guys, with 34 strikeouts. That feeling that is stirring in you is called lust, son. It seemed to me like Wheeler was mostly missing low. He wasn't scattershot or anything (which he has been), just not hammering that first strike in there. Gonzo may not be getting his hard hit balls through, but he had a sacrifice fly at the right time. Outside of Nimmo, he's probably the Met you go to when you need contact (maybe moreso), which is interesting, in that he wasn't a high-contact-rate guy when he was young. Still waiting on his first double as a Met.
-
In 2013 and 2015, his command was dazzling.
-
I agree he looked a little better. Don't want to make too much of cahnfidence, but shit, if he can lose that sulky act and get his focus back, he can get by on spotting his pitches. He's gonna get dinged from time to time, whereas early in his career, he almost never gave up homers. If he can channel Bartolo and detach himself from that, he can be alright.

Edgy MD wrote: Glad to hear it, but I imagine something close to half the guys on a mid-season AA roster will get at least a taste of the majors. Reese Havens, Mark Cohoon, Adrian Rosario, Armando Rodriguez --- all these guys should get at least a crack. Heck, Rob Carson's already been there. None of these guys got a crack. I don't even remember Adrian Rosario.

Ended a three-game hitless mini-slump by going 3-3 with a triple last night.
