2. There's a name I had forgotten. That guy had a heckuva rookie season. That was 2014, and he's been mostly dining out on that ever since.
3. How does anybody throw him anything like a first-pitch strike?
4. Holy crap, McNeil and the first pitch!
5. I used to think a Panik attack was a bad thing.
6. Well, there were two outs already.
7. Ugh. Three runs on flubs.
8. And ... he gets the strikeout just when he needed it. Two out.
9. Good knowledge. That 6-for-18 may feed into the surprise of seeing Ramos out there.
10. Very surprised to see Ramos back behind the plate with deGrom on the mound and a DGaaNG.
11. The only true enemy is the one in the other dugout, but if you have any rooting power left over today, root for the Rangers over the Brewers. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/screen-shot-2019-08-11-at-12.37.16-pm.png> https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/screen-shot-2019-08-11-at-12.37.41-pm.pnghttps://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/screen-shot-2019-08-11-at-12.37.41-pm.png>
12. The top of the story in The Washington Post: NEW YORK — The Washington Nationals cannot wake up from this recurring nightmare. Somehow, for the fifth consecutive game at Citi Field and for the second time in as many nights, they fell to the New York Mets after leading in the eighth or ninth inning. On Saturday, the Nationals grabbed the lead in the first and again in the eighth, only to give it away like all the others in a 4-3 heartbreaker of a loss that left chants of “Let's go, Mets!” reverberating around the ballpark.
13. The Mets of New York town.
14. If it was Recker that Alonso tore the jersey off of, time would have stopped.
15. Are we really going to keep the streak alive with more Nick Gilder?
16. I was at the bar of a local Mets fan/freelance sports writer, and I had two premonitions. 1) "I know Lugo hasn't given up a run in a dog's age, but look at Soto's face. That MoFo is locked in. He totally knows what's coming ... " and KABOOM! or whatever you call a pounded homer by the opposition. Maybe a ¡MOOBAK. 2) Next inning, I'm all, "Look at that douchebag with the crooked ha ... holy shit, is that ... FERNANDO RODNEY?! THAT guy is still at it? He's been in the league since crunk was a thing and he's NEVER done anything against the Mets. I don't care if the Mets are sending Guillorme up here. This guy's TOTALLY gonna put his foot in it ..." and KABOOM! Except, this time it was a true Mets KABOOM! Fucking KABOOM! I paid my tab and headed to my car and Howie Rose took me home via the miracle of satellite radio. Despite getting to spend the game with a Mets fan or two, for some reason I wanted to follow the conclusion on my own. Actually, I wanted to follow it with youse guys. Holy shit, right?
17. He also seemed to quit on it earlier than he had to. But clearly, while the general out percentage on that drive might be 70%, the outfield was playing in for a play at the plate.
18. Baseball Prospectus is not updating their odds consisttently, so we're going to switch to FanGraph's numbers, which tell us, at a cursory glance, that the Mets are awesome. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/screen-shot-2019-08-10-at-6.39.35-pm.png> https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/screen-shot-2019-08-10-at-6.40.27-pm.png>
19. The Tim Tebow 2019 season https://www.mlb.com/news/tim-tebow-season-ending-finger-injuryends early reportedly due to a hand laceration. Mets indicate he intends to keep at it. Edgy indicates the Mets sent him to AAA too fast.
20. Quinn is a beneficiary/victim of the Stanford philosophy, which holds that there is one platonic ideal for a baseball swing, no matter what your specific skills or body type, and so all are carefully instructed to fine-tune their swing in exactly the same way. Matt Winaker, chosen by the Mets two rounds later, shared the Stanford outfield with him, and is now on the interstate with St. Lucie.
21. Mister Met's rainbow flag has been assembled upside down. Mrs. Met, as always, has her shit together.
22. And if Conforto and McNeil collided on the warning track for the FHaMs, rather than contributing to a comeback win, they would have each been out for three months or more.
