  1. Adam-12 in an early hole. Somebody needs to settle down this young pitcher. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7e/Kent_McCord_Martin_Milner_Edward_Crawford_Adam_12_1973.JPG/520px-Kent_McCord_Martin_Milner_Edward_Crawford_Adam_12_1973.JPG>
  2. As much I hate the shift in general, putting the shift on against Harper when you're throwing him curves away makes no sense.
  3. Officer Reed should really be slapping the cuffs on that horrible girl.
  4. Holy shit! Rosario is DEEP in the doghouse.

  7. Yoenis Céspedes appears to be in the clubhouse, but he still gets a projection. More importantly, Michael Conforto has a meaningful chance of going top ten this season. 8. Funny to think that with all those games pitched to Grote, Stearns, Johnny Bench, and Carlton Fisk, his one no-hitter was caught by Don Werner.
  9. Terrific work. I kind of feel like DH's should be eligible for Bench Player of the Month.
  10. Those late sixties Cubs might have been far more formidable — and the 1969 Mets would have had a harder road — if Chicago hadn't traded him. Did a great job staying healthy and on the field (or playing hurt), and kept his wheels far past the age where most guys have lost more than a step. Everybody knows he set the record by stealing 118 bags, but it's far more remarkable when you think that he did it at 35.
  11. This is kind of an odd transaction, but it's an odd year. He'd already been demoted, and you're not really supposed to be able send down a guy when he's hurt. But more importantly, having been sent down to a training camp that has no need to juggle available players, as there are no games for them to be available for, what could really be the point of putting someone on the injured list? The theory I'm working with is that this allows them to invite one more player to the mythical alternate training site. If somebody gets added tomorrow, then my theory gains a little steam. 13. Lefty Specialist wrote: Didn't Cohen already have the advantage of seeing the offers as a current part-owner of the Mets anyways? I'm just so glad it wasn't J-Rod. I don't want drama, I want rich owners and competence. It may work out, but I don't think competence is the first thing that pops to mind when anybody mentions Steve Cohen. It ain't going to be so much about winning over the Wilpons as winning over the other owners, who have to give a supermajority of approval to whoever gets in their club.
  14. A charismatic, self-promoting, 1980s, Trumpian criminal lowlife opens a New Jersey theme park designed by amateurs, overseen by a staff of wasted teenagers, regulated by nobody, and dangerous as fuck. Anarchy reins as the park becomes a right of passage for tri-state-area youth and young adults, and an early death for more than a few. Now streaming at HBOMax. 15. He was a year away from knowing how a John Buck pie tasted.
  16. I wonder, if you're going to pants a pitcher and steal a win, is there any pitcher that is more satisfying to do it to than Chapman? Historically, I'd say taking a game from Roger Clemens and John Rocker is one and two as far as the best-feeling pitchers to come back against, but Aroldis Chapman has got to be up there.
  17. I've been as frustrated as anybody with Luis Rojas holding back his starting pitchers in three- and four-inning starts, but ... is there an argument the team now enters the home stretch with deGrom, Lugo, Peterson, and whoever fresher than other teams' starting pitchers? Also, if a theoretical pitcher (possibly named Marcus) has theoretically opted out and tehorietically suddenly decides tomorrow morning, that he wants to get a piece of any theoretical post-season kitty, and also to make a few theoretical appearances to demonstrate that he's healthy for theoretical offseason free-agent suitors, can he theoretically opt in now and be eligible? How about for the theoretical post-season?
  18. Yes, Alomar would qualify on the same terms that Darryl-in-recovery does. But does the Ron Darling dealing-with-diabetes count? Not an active Mets player, and not in his Mets uniform, but how about a former Met gaining publicity as a current Mets civilian employee? I like counting that. Even team ambassadors, I think, should count.
  19. Well, first thing, Garlick, is you gotta requisition a new name.
  20. Man, we should be getting some flaming hot Erasmo Ramirez action here.

  22. Sheesh, the Phils aren't even mailing it in at this point. I've seen Andrew McCutcheon for a lot of years. I'd never have described him as a lollygagger, but that was embarrassing. Everybody hits today.
  23. Frayed Knot wrote: So this Phil's pitcher Mauricio Llovera joins David Aardsma in the All-Double Opening letter name team. Not sure how many others there are, but does anyone remember brief NYY hurler Kevin Mmahat? The Mets have another one in Graeme Lloyd.
  24. Edgy MD wrote: One run, three hits and seven strikeouts over seven innings for deGromio. How's that for 10 cc's of ringer's lactate? 12 K's. I am quite the hasty typist.
