  1. Bring in Willie!
  2. The Cards have torn back against Eickoff and Jacob Barnes and now lead 7-5 after three. BET YOU'RE MISSING BRAD BRACH NOW, SANDY!!
  3. And setting a new record every day!
  4. In addition to being the oldest living Met, is Dave Hillman the oldest living Met ever?
  5. As I typed, two more scored in the second on a fielding error. Beta-Mets lead 5-1.
  6. Mets plate three in the first following a leadoff triple by Kevin Pillar, then surrender one in the bottom of the inning.
  7. Yeah, a big part of the long wait for the Hall of Fame for Earl Weaver was that he never got the magic second championship that managers need to cement their candidacy. There were two championships in the Weaver era, but the second happened during the Altobelli Interregnum, while Earl was enjoying a time-out.
  8. 9. Hi, I'm Pete Alonso. I'm a big, strong dude that makes baseballs disappear like nobody in Mets history. That's exciting. But there's that problem with sluggers, that when homeruns become their game, the other aspects of their batting skills frequently fade, so when they aren't exploding baseballs into the sky, they aren't particularly productive at all. I'm not that guy. At least, not yet. But I sure used 2020 to give a picture of what that guy might look like. But you know, if fifty bombs are in my bat, that may be a guy folks have to get used to living with. What more do you want? Eggs in your beer? But there is another guy playing my position, and where I'm brutal, he's a little more refined, so he's faking it in left, and I may try occasionally faking it at third. And while it's a good problem to have, it could all go away if I could stop chasing that outside slider, or slow down just a little as a I load up to turn on a fastball. Those were my two problems last year. Chasing sliders two feet off the plate and being too quick and getting under the fastball. If I can solve one of those probs, I'm an MVP candidate. And if I can't, I'm going to be hearing Dom's name a LOT. Till then, I'm gonna keep mashing. How much mash? How much trash? That's the question you need to weigh, and then put your answer below. 10. Yesterday saw the invocation of a new rule for Spring Training games that allows a manager to pull the plug on an inning if his pitcher throws 20 or more pitches. Cancel culture!

  12. Some red hot Eickoff Action tomorrow.

  14. Fun fact you may or may not come to appreciate as you sleepily read box scores through dyslexic eyes — "Almora, Jr." is an anagram for "Alomar, Jr."
  15. Yeah, we're 1-0 in the era of Ceetar 2.0.
  16. Curly does a good job working his way out of first and second, with no outs.
  17. Well, his blonde braids are sure new. A McNeil homer represents the first Mets run of the spring.
  18. Ahhh ... 1948 feels a little forced, though. It's not like once Jacie Robinson landed, equal opportunity reigned supreme.
  19. I may have this wrong, but I'm only just now realizing that if we are categorizing the Negro Leagues as Major Leagues, then we now can say we have had three female big leaguers.
  20. Leigh Ann Loup inadvertantly kept Aaron out of the 2015 ALDS after her water broke shortly after the Jays flight landed in Texas. The newly Loupless Jays pulled it out anyhow as Aaron kept vigil on his wife and arriving child, pacing back and forth before the hospital telly. Leigh Ann, sometimes stylized as "Leighann," was Aaron's high school sweetie, which can often be seen as preferable to the beauty industry professionals ballplayers tend to court, but it provides for fewer publicly available photos. She frequently wears her hair short and sporty, which goes well with the boyish face of her professional pitcher of a husband. Rogers Center, and hopefully will enjoy Citi Field as well.
  21. I'm sorry. Instagram posts only load an inch on my page, so I never really got that one. Researching Albert I found more about the missus.
  22. Say hi to Krystal Gregorio/Krystal Almora, second runner up in the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant 2016, and a dancer for the Sixers and Flyers. [fimg=400]https://www.sportsgossip.com/wp-content/uploads/MTU2NzM3MTc3ODM1ODA4MjA1/388fb141eabd5eeb36f6ef045181223f.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=400]https://www.sportsgossip.com/wp-content/uploads/MTU2NzM3MTk3OTY4NDY3NTY4/1e538b2536484be11fc9977df31523b1.jpg[/fimg] Krystal is among a number of Sixers hoofers who https://fastphillysports.com/did-sixers-cover-up-bullying-racially-profiling-of-this-dancer/got accused of racial bullying by colleague Yahne Coleman. I encourage you to judge for yourself She's also the illustrator of this book for parents of kids who don't like getting their shots. https://bookshop.org/books/kelsey-hates-the-needle-9781640967762/9781640967762Click to purchase! https://images-production.bookshop.org/spree/images/attachments/8378006/original/9781640967762.jpg?1585466516> Finally, she's a partner and designer for https://hashtagkids.com/Hashtag Kids. https://hashtagkids.com/https://hashtagkids.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/New-Arrival-w-baby-banner.jpg>
  23. Hi, I'm Albert Almora, Jr., and I guess I was signed because the Mets wanted a little bit more glove and a little bit more effectiveness against lefties than they thought they could fully get out of Brandon Nimmo, and that hedge against Nimmo's weaknesses was Guillermo Heredia, and they wanted a little bit more than he could provide, and they convinced themselves that I was that man. But was is the key word there, beacause they subsequently still wanted a little more hedge in the glove and righthanded bat areas, and they went out and signed Kevin Pillar, and so now I'm feeling a little bit of the insult that Heredia felt before me. That's kinda sucky. I'm a Florida Cuban-American, which kind of makes me displacing native Cuban Heredia seem even more awkward. My dad played professionally in Cuba. I'm a former #6 overall draft pick, I have beautiful hair, and in my rookie year, the Cubs won their first World Championship in a million years, so I happen to consider myself a good luck charm. How's that going to play out in my first year with the Mets? You tell me. [YOUTUBE]AEkHojysaTE[/YOUTUBE]
  24. The Mets flip-flopped their whole draft strategy to get this guy.

He also dabbled in pitching. His parting appears to leave the Mets with 41 remaining minor league free agents, which they honored today by introducing a sleeve patch featuring the number 41.
