  1. Dom Smith signed to a one-year deal by the BoSox, added to the 26-man roster.

DBacks: Tonight's game has been delayed due to a bee colony forming on the protective netting behind home plate.[/i] Hate when that happens! This game, btw, got started 1:55 late. The beekeeper who was called in to take care of the situation got himself a standing ovation, heard chants of M-V-P, stayed around to throw out the first pitch, and has now signed a deal with Topps to have a special baseball card made. The Snakes then capped off the night with a walk-off win.
  3. His tenure with the Mets was ... well, you know.

  5. Frayed Knot wrote: Yeah, Jorge made lot of good pitches and, really, the leadoff dubble was barely worse than a walk and to some extent troubled me less. Three run lead in the ninth, I'd prefer double over walk. Except for the 2B killing the whole GiDP set-up thingie, yeah. But at least he opted to throw strikes over excess nibbling in a spot where even an HR doesn't kill you.

  9. Nice inning by Lopez despite the double: three grounders, one of which found a hole, then a foul pop-out to end the game which followed a previous foul pop which could have been caught plus a pitch which could have been strike three.

  12. =Cowtipper post_id=153863 time=1714524523 user_id=166] Good work by Sean.
  13. Mike Trout tore a meniscus in his left knee and will undergo surgery later this week*. It is expected to keep him out of action "for an extended time" and while it's expected that he will play again in the 2024 season, no timetable was given for his return. Plate appearances for Trout recently: 2021 = 146 2022 = 499 2023 = 362 * MetIrish first
  14. As was the case last night, they got their run for the night in the first inning and seem like they're looking forward to winning the extra inning coin flip game.
  15. And speaking of going out of the baseline ... I'm not sure what Happ was yapping about over that inning ending play at 1st.
  16. Javier Assad, especially when said quickly by announcers, sounds far too much like Hafez al-Assad.
  17. Baty, while not exactly GG material at 3B, looks smoother and much less mechanical as compared to Vientos. * my spell-check is far too hyper. I was just about to post when I realized my sentence identified Baby and Vents.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Frayed Knot wrote: Not a smart throw by Wisdom on the SB attempt. Lindor could have gotten called a second time for abandoning his baseline. He didn't interfere any more than last time, but he certainly could have been considered to be screening. The rules about where a batter can and can't run are more strict and more strictly defined from home to 1st, and particularly so since the rules were rewritten this past winter. The ball probably needed to hit Lindor last night in order to get a call where the simple act of him being on the wrong side of the line there other day triggers the call.
  19. Not a smart throw by Wisdom on the SB attempt.
  20. Can't expect to win after scoring on your first swing of the game and then not again.

D fence So, he kind of out-managed himself. And now it's [CROSSOUT]Vientos[/CROSSOUT] , [CROSSOUT]Wendle[/CROSSOUT], Baty
  22. HP ump has had a very erratic night, right from the very beginning.
