  1. Wow, there's a rule where Belliard is allowed to NOT get a hit w/RiSP? I was unaware that was permitted.
  2. Zimmerman doubles in Belliard w/1 out in the 1st "Why do I have the Cubs/Reds? C'mon, FOX" Because with no "home" game to affect your area the network goes to the Cubs game as a catch-all.
  3. "That seems like as much as any Met not from Fresno or Tampa has ever complied in a game. Am I correct?" Cone, 19 in the season-ending game in 1991.
  4. ]I was pretty sure that a bunch of guys typing on a computer didn't really have an effect on the game on the field. Just a silly tradition, and that's OK. Of course. We just shouldn't think that the announcers are bound by the silliness of fan thinking or get mad at them when they don't.
  5. Jacobs = K --->>> #14 ... 5 to go.
  6. I hope someone reminds Adam Eaton that he's really, really lousy.
  7. metsguyinmichigan wrote: ="TransMonk"]="Frayed Knot"]The TV booth is maintaining silence about what, how you say ... type of game Maine is in the middle of. The WFAN radio crew won't shut up about it. Howie should know better. No he shouldn't, we should. Announcers are there to announce. To be calling a game when something momentous is happening and NOT say so is irresponsible, not to mention stupid. (the TV booth has acknowledged it several times since my initial post btw). Besides, the whole superstition is that no one is supposed to mention TO THE PITCHER that he's in the midst of a no-no lest you spook him into a case of the heebie-geebies. To transfer that to announcers, fans, and the man on the street is silly ... and to think it actually has some kind of effect is just plain dumb.
  8. Magic numbers for this game right now are 7 and 13
  9. "How does shortstop Ramirez get pulled with a wrist injury after a homer to left?" Huh? Ramirez got hit w/a pitch (although ruled a foul) and was pulled after finishing that AB.
  10. Oh wow!!! A rocket to 3rd bounces off Wright ... and goes right to Reyes who throws to 1st to get the out. THAT makes you think something's up.

  12. I was going to say that we should save some of these runs for tomorrow ... but, who knows, we may need them for the later innings this afternoon.
  13. Gary doesn't usually do that though - that's the surprising part.
  14. The TV booth is maintaining silence about what, how you say ... type of game Maine is in the middle of. * and I just turned into K-Mac!
  15. "thats just what Reyes needed--a slap upside the head" I was going to volunteer if Olivo didn't beat me to it.
  16. Olivo is ejected but no one else.
  17. Reyes, standing on 3rd base during the pitching change, was yapping back & forth with Olivo on the mound when Olivo suddenly charged 3rd base swinging for Reyes but catching Sandy Alomar in the process. Marlon, DiFelice, Peterson & Ollie Perez seemed to be in the middle of the aftermath. Guillermo Mota looked to be checking to see if Piazza was anywhere near.
  18. Catcher Olivo seems to be the object of several Met's ire. First Peterson, now Reyes.
  19. What da Efff was that all about?? 1st pitch at Castillo's feet and second one behind him!! Either this guy is real wild or he didn't appreciate the dance-a-thon following Milledge's HR. But why Castillo? - He didn't do nuthin as far as I can tell.
  20. Beltran - 2.0 Castillo - 2.0 Wright - 1.4 Green - 0.8 Delgado - 0.8 Heilman - 1.0 Wagner - 0.4
  21. Brewers
  22. Es-Mets stick it to Yanx, Clinch East for Boston Jay Payton's 3-run triple off Mariano Rivera tied the game in the 9th, then Mel Mora's 2-out, bases-loaded bunt single wins it in the 10th. 1st round is set: Yanx @ Cleveland; Boston hosts Anaheim Best overall record (and choice of skeds) still up in the air. BoSox & Indians tied, Boston holds tie-breaker.
  23. Reyes's only hit corresponds with Castillo's only out -- story of the month.
  24. Pop-Up, Pop-Up, Pop-Up... and Reyes wasn't even one of the hitters. The lack of timely hits is just stunning.
  25. THAT may have been our last best chance.
