  1. Fuckin' Orioles! After leaving runners all over the bases in the 7th, they get a 2-out, 3R game-tying HR in the 8th ... only to blow it again in the 9th. - After the HR, Buck brought in his closer Jim Johnson in the 9th in a tie game (OK, no problem there) but he starts it off by giving up a leadoff hit to Brendan Ryan. WHO? Brendan Ryan, that's who; a guy the Yanx picked up for his glove about 20 minutes before the Wednesday's game after Jeter's magic was somehow unable to overcome his latest injury; Brendan Ryan, late of Seattle & St Louis, who is hitting a cumulative under .200 [u:2bafqaqd]SINCE THE BEGINNING OF 2012[/u:2bafqaqd], a span of nearly 700 ABs. - So up comes another non-hitter in the form of catcher Chris Stewart ... who bunts it right back to pitcher Johnson ... who has tons of time to get the force and maybe even a DP it's bunted so poorly, ... if only his throw to 2nd hadn't missed the bag by about 18 feet. - the next batter Granderson, who had HR'd earlier, also bunts, this time successfully bringing up ARod ... but it doesn't matter what ARod does because Johnson Wild Pitches the winning run home!! So the Yanx cough up a 3-run lead in the 8th and do nothing right in the 9th except get a hit from a .180 schlub who's career in pinstripes can be measured in hours, and yet they win the fucking game anyway. Yanx would actually be tied for a WC spot today had Tampa not decided to finally win a game last night. As it is they sit one game behind Tampa and three in back of Texas. Indians are 1/2 in back of the Yanx with KC & Balt a full game in back of the seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians". Yanx @ Boston this weekend. Cleveland @ Chisox KC @ Detroit Baltimore @ Toronto Oakland @ Texas (A's lead by 3.5) TB @ Minnesota
  2. Well, we did our best to make the NL WC race interesting by laying down for the Nationals and allowing them to continue their hot last month (17-5 since Aug 20). They still have a ways to go but have now clawed their way to 5.5 behind current #2 WC Cincy while Pitt's sweep of Texas got them to a tie with StL atop the Central 2.5 up on the Reds. Arizona at 9.0 games back seems like a dead issue. Pitt & Cincy play each other six times more this season including the final three and six of the final nine, something that would seem to be an advantage for Saint Louie but maybe a disadvantage for the Nats. If you're Washington I figure you've got to see which team is better at the time when they meet and root for that squad to sweep all six games. The Cards sked features Seattle, Colorado (4), Milwaukee, the Cubs, and ... Washington This weekend is a bit of a mini-breather for each even if every game remains super important: Cubs @ Pitt, Seattle @ Cards, Reds @ Milwaukee
  3. All I know is that whenever I see the Angels play it seems to me that they're constantly giving away outs on the bases (bunts, sacs, overly-aggressive base-running, etc.) and this isn't just a recent thing. Obviously Scioscia has a lot of admirers but I get the feeling he's one of those guys where the more we'd see of him the less we'd think of him.
  4. For folks who hate bunting, I don't think Scioscia is your guy. In fact, I know he's not. Then there's the problem of him being signed through 2017. So unless the Angels decide to dump him with four years remaining on his deal ...

But they wouldn't be bumping up against Rush, he's apparently leaving ABC as is Hannity (although I have no idea what's causing this sudden conservative side shake-up). Now those were daytime hours (Noon - 6PM I believe) and most of NYM time is 6:30 - 10:30 - but I'm sure that's just another syndicated right-wing yapper (Levin? ... Savage?) who may or may not be following Limbaugh & Hannity out the door and, even if not, could easily be bumped whenever there's a NYM game and plugged in whenever not. That happened for years when the Yanx were on that frequency and as long as Met radio listeners get a full pre & post in addition to getting first priority at game time (don't want to go searching for a "sister station" whenever the station decides that something else is more important) then why should I care what comes prior to them or after?
  6. btw, what are WABC's (770) plans for the future now that it looks like some of their conservative yakkers (Limbaugh & Hannity) are jumping to WOR starting next year? Could that be a 50K watt clear channel outlet looking for programming?
  7. I'd find it real hard to believe that anyone in the front office is even nudging (much less pushing or ordering) Terry to pitch Frank-Frank as often as possible.
  8. Harang, followed by Feliciano, followed by Atchison. Go AARPs!!!

  10. I never quite understood why it mattered to folks whether the hosts on that station were Mets fans or not. Being one doesn't stop Benigno from being a dope; it doesn't stop Tony Paige overnight from being really misinformed; and NOT being a fan hardly stops Francesa from pretending he and Sugarpants are bestest buddies or that he personally discovered Matt Harvey.
  11. We're only being out-homered 12-0 in this series. And it's not over yet.
  12. RBI single by Recker to tie the game -- but three hits in the same inning was far too much good news at once for anyone to handle so Baxter took care of that by getting thrown out at 3B
  13. What will happen to "The Schmoozer" and his die hard callers? The question will be- will the FAN become a complete Yankee cheer squad, where no dissent is tolerated? If so, the Schmooze is doomed. They'll just re-run Francesa to fill the time. The Yanquis aren't taking over ownership of the station here folks, they're signing a contract to have FAN carry their games on the airwaves. The other 20 hours a day (not to mention the 200 or so days when there isn't live baseball) it's going to be the same station it always was (for better or worse). It's not going to become a Yanqui station anymore than it ever was a Met station.
  14. Not only is it a day game today ... but it's Aaron Harang time folks!! Tanner Roark making his 2nd start in the big leagues. 1) Eric Young Jr. LF 2) Juan Lagares CF 3) Daniel Murphy 2B 4) Lucas Duda 1B 5) Josh Satin 3B 6) Mike Baxter RF 7) Anthony Recker C 8) Ruben Tejada SS 9) Aaron Harang RHP 1) Denard Span CF 2) Ryan Zimmerman 3B 3) Jayson Werth RF 4) Bryce Harper LF 5) Ian Desomond SS 6) Adam LaRoche 1B 7) Wilson Ramos C 8) Anthony Rendon 2B 9) Tanner Roark RHP
  15. Gee - 1.4 Feliciano - 0.3 Turner - 1.8 den Dekker - 1.2 Murphy - 0.5 Duda - 0.5 d'Arnaud - 0.8
  16. Wheeler - 4.0 Hawkins - 0.3 Lagares - 0.8 Satin - 0.4
  17. Mike Puma sez: Collins "all but guaranteed" to return as NYM manager. Doesn't make any guesses as to how long a contract. Also in article: "Alderson, through channels, has made it known there is almost no chance he would hire popular Wally Backman to guide the Mets if there was an opening at the major league level."; later adding that Backman will most likely leave the organization unless he's offered an ML coaching job which is iffy as it could be seen as threatening to Terry. http://nypost.com/2013/09/11/collins-all-but-guaranteed-to-return-to-mets/
  18. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Play that game 10 times and the O's win 8. Which has been the story with the Yanx all year - that's how they got to 8 games over .500 with a negative run differential. Orioles out-hit the Yanx 13 - 6 last night but, after the first Yanx run came as the result of no hits, the remainder came via HR, HR, HR, and 3B+1B I keep waiting for their fans to give back wins like these since many of them were adamant about wanting a team that hit fewer HRs, played more 'small ball', and gave 'some of the kids' a chance. Hey shitheads: - how well did those replacement players and all that small ball shit work out during the first 2/3 of the season? Turns out that .215 slap-hitters and bunters with no power don't create as many runs teams that hit 200+ HRs per year ... Who knew? - how much does it bug you that ARod's return has been one of the keys to the recent surge while Jeter's return meant nothing even before it ended for the 4th and final time? - how were those "kids" (many of them 26 years old) once you got a look at them? Did you REALLY think the next Jeter/Posada/Pettitte/Mariano/Bernie were just sitting down there in Scranton or Trenton waiting to rush to the rescue? - and how is this desire to get younger taste considering that they guys you added this year that actually mattered are mostly over 35 and some of them are signed beyond this year as well?
  19. Same shit in the AL races today as yesterday except that Oakland was nice enough to win. As a result, the Yanx leap over Balt & Cleveland and are just one game behind fast fading Tampa for the 2nd WC spot and three games behind Texas. And they STILL have a negative RS/RA ratio!!
  20. Baxter continues the impressive NYM display of warning track power.
  21. Well, Yanqui royalty shouldn't have a say in the rest of the WFAN broadcast day except what falls within the pre-game/game itself/post-game show window. IOW, if they want Somers kicked out because he teased them and pulled their pigtails all these years, FAN mgmt should simply tell Trost, Levine, and the Steinbrenner boys to go fuck themselves.
  22. Rendon's two-out/two-run double makes it 3-1, but really, the one run deficit was pretty much insurmountable anyway.
  23. Kong76 wrote: They Metted up the outside a little the second year. Yup! The moment their cluelessness was pointed out to them they were all over it.
  24. Kong76 wrote: I wonder if Steve Somers has any kind of contract with WFAN, or he just goes on when scheduled. Can't picture him on a the Yankee flagship station. Half of Somers' schtick is teasing Yanqui (or Cowboy, or Devil, or whoever) fans to the point where they're goaded into calling him. No reason why his act should change just because his shift precedes/follows a different game. Besides, where else would he go?
