  1. I've had time to think about this and as the new GM I am convinced this team needs a top class pitcher like Lackey to pair with Santana.......we have enough middle of the road guys to fill out the rotation. Santana/Lackey Lee/Hamels
  2. Good for Tracy , always seems like a nice guy.
  3. The media loved that one.....Manuel for his part said he is happy that Wally got another chance.
  4. I think he was towards me in fact....bollox...
  5. Not sure why that was broken in to five parts but always fun to read the thoughts of those guys. Still you can't please all Who are these bloggers? What do they know? This sounds like frustration more than anything else Part one http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/2009/11/mets_roundtable_discussion_par.html
  6. Greinke's ERA of 2.16 is quite amazing.
  7. "Part of the discussion was, Hey, Wally, we're giving you a shot, but you have to understand that if there's any hiccup along the way, we would have the right to terminate the relationship,'" Howard said. "He understood that. He was more than happy with that because he's confident there are not going to be any issues." Howard sounding like Omar....
  8. John Cougar Lunchbucket As long as they've decided to let Jerry have another go (or actually, keep up their end of the contract bargain) I don't see it as doing him any good to hire a staff of pretenders to his throne particularly when hacks like John Harper get the back page of today's Snooze to suggest Jerry now has a successor in waiting ... in Brooklyn. . Harper's column was utter crap even for him....on the one hand he paints it like Wally is there waiting to take over next July but then says Wally probably needs a few season in the minors to reestablish himself.....and in the Rubin article I thought the quotes form Dave Howard were a little much.....talking about an "significant clause" in the contract regarding zero tolerance ....that's fine but why go public with it?
  9. Sandy Alomar Jr. gone to Cleveland as first base coach and Chip Hale expected to be announced as Mets third base coach .
  10. No threat to Manuel, he'll be happy.
  11. I take the piss out of Jeff plenty but at the end of the day I think we could do a whole lot worse than them....
  12. my problem with the smaller Daily News is that it feels like the Post , anyway back to to Piniero....he'd be a good pick up , is this the first inkling that the Mets will go after pitching too?
  13. Trump must be kicking himself for firing her.
  14. LWFS drops the hammer on Silva.... Regarding his readers I think Mike wants his readers to "learn how to read like a yankee".
  15. I wonder what Carolyn Kepcher would say on this.
  16. Putz - $6 million Delgado - $12 million Reyes - $6.125 million Beltran - $19,243,682 Santana - $18,876,139 Wagner - $10.5 Perez - $12 million Wright - $7.75 million Maine - $2,600,000 Who else?
  17. OMFG........times 100 At your job, learn how to play like a Yankee Carolyn Kepcher Raw talent, ambition, dedication, strong management, luck - all these factors helped drive the Yankees to their impressive, World Series-winning season. What is it about the Yankees that translates to career success in other types of work? They've built a great team. And if you've ever been a part of a truly great team, you know that it's something special that doesn't happen by accident. Everyone's productivity increases. The Yankees' triumph can teach us lessons that hold true whether your workplace is a sports field, a police car or a cubicle in an office building. UNFORCED DIVERSITY Professional sports teams have one goal in mind: winning. Ridiculous concepts like bigotry fall to the wayside. Can you imagine a coach or owner allowing prejudice to interfere with the hiring of a great player? A talented player is a talented player. As we can see from the Yankees, a natural diversity arises. The resulting team is racially and ethnically diverse to a level that puts most corporate diversity initiatives to shame. GREAT RELATIONSHIPS This is a team that's spent time developing relationships. It shows on the field, in the clubhouse and in public. At your workplace, there are bound to be people who would not be your choice for a friend if you met in the outside world. Still, it's possible and worthwhile to develop good working relationships with all of your co-workers, not just the ones to whom you're naturally drawn. Getting along with these people to the best of your ability is a part of your job. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Even the very talented need to constantly strive to do their best. My colleague Leslie Grossman, founder of the Women's Leadership Exchange and a devoted Yankees fan, loves to look at how the world at large offers career lessons. "The Yankees are big on self-improvement. Derek Jeter's ability seemed to be down in 2008, but he worked hard and transformed his own performance in 2009. Look at how A-Rod transformed himself from the weakest link psychologically a year ago to the complete player he is today - mind, body and spirit. The Yankees give their young players every opportunity to develop, sending them back to the farm team, working with the coaches and then finally giving them the chance to contribute." The Yankees never gave up, even when they were down, and they showed the world how great teamwork is worth all the effort and investment in the future. 20. Good for Wally , good for the Mets and good for The Cyclones.
  21. And I want to retire as a Met too.....no time for sentimentality here with this team , far more important stuff to get done.
