  3. Yeah sorry to see Duke go, I find it strange that he would agree to a co-GM situation.
  4. Well you need pitchers, you can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit...he'll have it all to do...I like this though.

  7. What a difference in styles, the new place in that pic looks a bit like PNC Park, seems to be the trend in new Parks today.
  8. Astros winning this one with ease behind the brilliant Oswalt,5 - 1 in the 7th.
  9. WOW, that song was awful Edgy but quite funny, I'm wondering why I never heard it in 2000....
  10. It's amazing, Girardi is in coaching a year and gets a job, WWSB was coaching more that a dozen years before landing a gig...
  11. On October 10th I posted this bit of Mets history which I got from the Baseball Hall of Fame website....]On October 10, 1973, the New York Mets win their second National League pennant in five years. In the fifth game of the Championship Series, Tom Seaver wins a 5-2 decision over the Cincinnati Reds. Tug McGraw, who inspired the Mets with his Ya Gotta Believe! slogan, picks up the save G-Fafif pointed out that the score was wrong and provided this link...http://retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B10100NYN1973.htmSo I sent an email to the Hall of Fame and today recieved this reply...]Subject : RE: 1973 Dear Friend,Thank you for visiting the Hall of Fame web site. 14. I'm stealing this from Bill Clinton.. Don't Stop Fleetwood Mac If you wake up and don't want to smile If it take just a little while Open your eyes and look at the day You'll see things in a different way Don't stop thinking about tomorrow Don't stop, it'll soon be here It'll be, better than before, Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone Why not think about times to come And not about the things that you've done If your life was bad to you Just think what tomorrow will do Don't stop thinking about tomorrow Don't stop, it'll soon be here It'll be, better than before, Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone All I want is to see you smile If it takes just a little while I know you don't believe that it's true I never meant any harm to you Don't stop thinking about tomorrow Don't stop, it'll soon be here It'll be, better than before, Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone Don't you look back Don't you look back
  15. I suppose the concern might be that he wants to pitch for the Licey Tigers in the Dominican winter league, but again I know nothing about that league , if he did pitch for the Tigers how many games would that be?...
  16. I don't like this but I'm willing to see how things play out, Pedro is smart and I trust his judgment, plus I can't knock a guy for wanting to play for his country.
  17. I think I'll bid on this, I've never bought a thing from ebay and this is my first time even on the site, thanks Edgy....starting bid id $15.95... what's that worth, $20?
  18. Not Mets history but a friend retired this day in 1955..]On October 18, 1955, Ralph Kiner announces his retirement. The future Hall of Famer, who slumped to 18 home runs and a .243 average in 1955, leaves the game with 369 home runs in 10 seasons.
  19. Frayed Knot I think FOX now owns The Sporting News, that could be why it has changed for the worse,I could be wrong on that but when you go to foxsports they have some of the same content....
  20. ]But in all seriousness like MFS62 I'm wondering if there could be some connection between this positive test result and his medical problems this season. Could he have been legitamitely taking something that caused him to test positive could be, he had a left thumb problem but then had circulation problems and an aneurysm in his left shoulder . In related news Victor Conte of BALCO fame was sentenced to eight months today.Four months in prison and four home confinement.
  21. ]Looked to me like Lidge was too pumped after he got 2 outs, thinking he had it in the bag. Bob Brenly said that a few times after he got the two outs.
  22. Obviously he started taking them when he was a MFY...
  23. NO....it was a strange AB with Edmonds though, looked like he couldn't find the SZ
  24. IIRC Bob Costas tells of standing next to Mrs Yawkey with the vistors clubhouse all set for a celebration and when the Mets came back to win Mrs Yawkey being shuffled away from the scene.
