  2. ="soupcan"]="batmagadanleadoff"]Has anybody here had sex with this woman? Ever? Are you offering her up..? I couldn't. She's under house arrest. That's Casey Anthony, the Orlando, FL criminal defendant and mother of her missing child, Caylee Anthony, presumed to be dead.
  3. AG/DC wrote: Is that Pan on the right? Yes it is. I'll try and post a picture of his father in, appropriately enough, a Mercury Met uniform.

  5. ="AG/DC"]Oh, be a sport. Okily-dokily. By the way, if the Mets win tonight, this thread will be going Magadanly.
  6. I hate it when Kenny Rogers gets blamed for anything bad having to do with 1999. Ordonez still sucks.
  7. It was Willie Randoph's fault.
  8. In last night's IGT, Zvon wrote: ANNOUNCEMENT:DUE TO THE SHITTYNESS OF THIS END GAME NO PICTURES WILL BE POSTED. PLEASE SLEEP SAFELY. What Zvon said.
  9. ="OlerudOwned"]="batmagadanleadoff"]="OlerudOwned"]Ahem. *nodding upward* What kinda data ya got? Could we get some labels here? Recap: sOPS+ - OPS+ of this split relative to the major league OPS for this split: 100*((split OBP/ML avg. OBP of split) + (split SLG/ML avg. SLG of split) - 1) 1st inning: 126 2nd inning: 101 3rd inning: 122 4th inning: 102 5th inning: 92 6th inning: 110 7th inning: 85 8th inning: 92 9th inning: 84 Extras inn: 78 http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bsplit.cgi?team=NYM&year=2008#situa-innng I don't understand what that data is for. Is that Mets OPS data? NL data? AL? MLB? This season? The last 21 seasons? What? Help me here.

  11. ="Frayed Knot"]Met OPS by inning: 9th - .628 What is the rest of the league OPSing in the 1st inning? In the ninth inning? Teams tend to pitch their best relievers in the 9th inning. I haven't checked the OPS numbers but historically, less runs are scored in the 9th than in any other non-extra inning.
  12. Meanwhile .... Webb's getting bombed in San Diego tonight (Five runs allowed in three innings, including a rare HR). This does not bode well for Johan, tomorrow.
  13. ="OlerudOwned"]Looking through Getty, it seems to be the 1999 road BP jerseys. Dated January 1, 2000 along with a bunch of other File Photo-type deals from the prior season. And yes, they are drop shadows. The black was added to the Mets scheme in 1998, so the ones you posted naturally aren't going to have them. But both angles on the Piazza photos show a pretty distinct drop-shadow, as does what I'd have to assume is the home version of that jersey. Dated March, 1999. Do you realize that you're posting the Mets magic number with those Piazza pics? Assbag!

  15. I doubt that you will ever be able to buy an authentic looking Mitchell & Ness type jersey for Doug Flynn. Nobody's remaking that guy's jerseys. A legitimate game used Mets Doug Flynn jersey would cost in the range of (I'm estimating) $400-$1,000, if you could find one. I'll let you know if I ever see one. You might consider picking up a real game used era-appropriate Mets jersey without any name or number (perhaps a jersey from that era that was recycled to the Minor Leagues) -- this can usually be had for between $100-$200,and less than $100 with a little luck. Customize the jersey yourself.
  16. ="OlerudOwned"]="batmagadanleadoff"]="AG/DC"]I'm guessing it was an Art Howe-era road BP jersey Can't be. Every jersey the Mets wear this century has the color black. This one does, in the form of those godawful dropshadows. But it's still too early to be Howe-era. Those aren't drop shadows. They might be real shadows, though. This is the jersey (1995-98):

  18. ="Fman99"]What the hell uniform is that? I don't remember blue with the white "New York" font on the front... That's an excellent question. I pondered it myself when I first posted that picture. Piazza's wearing a pre-game batting practice uniform, that I was certain until I saw that picture, that was only worn from 1995-97 when the Mets went back to a modernized version of their original uniforms (with uni #'s on the front). I though they ditched those warmups in '98 when they added black. I have a picture of Al Leiter wearing that bluer warmup, but it's from Spring Training. So I always assumed that the Mets wore their 95-97 warmups in Spring Training of '98 and waited until the regular season to unveil their black unis and black warmups. But that Piazza picture kills that theory because, as you know, Piazza was still a Dodger during Spring Training of '98. By the way, it appears that we'll never get to see this number on this thread as the upcoming series with the Phils will guarantee odd numbers here for a while.
  19. Rude comments will be tolerated provided that they are not mean-spirited. Mean spirited comments will be tolerated only if the poster apologizes to AG/DC immediately after. Send all apologies to the Visions of Johan thread.
  20. The last Baskin & Robbins I went to had less than 31 flavors. This is what I was gonna post a few hours ago but the douche and/or assbag (I'm still rubber. You're still glue) that wrote the post just above this one jinxed everything.
  21. Nymr83 wrote: where Tim Lincecum in this discussion? he has only 3 losses, 200 k's and a 1.18 whip to go with his 2.48 ERA I don't know that this thread was ever intended to discuss the leading Cy Young candidates. The opening post merely noted that Santana was gaining ground on the leaders and that his numbers are currently indistinguishable from Webb's. We then seemed to agree that Webb would undeservedly get more votes than Santana if the vote were held today. But no one expressly considered whether Webb would win it today, or whether he even should win it. Yeah, Lincecum's definitely in the mix. So is Volquez, among others. 22. cooby wrote: ="batmagadanleadoff"]Does anyone remember Jon Matlack? The Mets also scouted Ron Blomberg rather heavily for that draft. yes, very well! Don't you? No. Who's Jon Matlack?
  23. See how Santana shuts down the opposition's base stealing? They don't even bother. Outstanding. Piazza woulda loved this guy. I haven't heard any of the commentators commentate this to us fans.
  24. AG/DC wrote: The other challenge is coming from bulletproof C.C. Sabathia. CC's a candidate for Pitcher of the Month again.
  25. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: IOW, Webb wins. I think that Webb is having an ever-so-slightly better season than Johan. They're essentially the same pitchers. Santana gives up the long ball and Webb is terrific at preventing the HR. That would seem to be the most significant difference, maybe the only difference between the two. Yet Santana's given up about as many runs as Webb has. Luck? Clutchyclutch pitching? I'm not touching that one. Also, I never realized how tough it is to run on Johan. If the writers voted for the Cy Young Award tonight, Webb would beat Santana convincingly. The writers dig the Wins. It's too bad. These guys are the same deal, so far.
