  1. That's the best "slide" I ever saw in my life. If I was a teen-ager, I'd go outside right now to see if I can do that. The runner also did a 180 degree turn in mid-air. You gotta watch that slide frame by frame.
  2. Edgy MD wrote: Those are some handsome cards: Hawkins, Matsui... even Buchholz despite that weird outline. I was purposely looking for old-style or Heritage cards, given how relatively new the Rockies franchise is. I didn't want to post all these newfangled cards that, in my opinion, are overly cluttered, harder to read, and overall, not nearly as nice as the cards from the '70s and earlier -- before the Rockies existed. When I did these threads regularly, I got the least satisfaction from doing the 90's expansion teams. I like the Hawkins and the Buchholz, too. The Buchholz 'cause I especially like pre-50's cards. And the Hawkins 'cause Topps produced the images for that set to appear as if they were processed and developed using the photographic equipment and techniques available in the mid-60's. The Hawkins image has a little bit of a painterly effect to it.

With 3-5 lousy infielders, New York pedigree, and a demonstrated tolerance for domestic abusers on the mend, the Yankees are always a potential landing spot, but I can't see them dealing for him even paying nickels on the dollar. Perhaps Colorado just releases him and the Yankees sign him on the cheap. I wonder if Reyes'll get to wear his #7 over there?

That's the thing - if they can't make a decision in 60 seconds, then it isn't a clear enough mistake to overturn. Move along. Not necessarily. There might be indisputable recorded evidence that the call should be reversed, but that the umps didn't get to the particular decisive replay angle right away. How long the replay umps at command central take to resolve the dispute isn't dispositive of how obvious the error is.

And the amount of time a replay review takes has never, ever been an issue with me. I'm totally fine with it. Get the call right. That's the main thing and there's no way getting around that reviewing a play is gonna add time to the game. To tell you the truth, it wouldn't even register with me that replay adds some time to the game if I weren't a member of this forum. I mean, I know, logically, that replay adds time to the game, but I don't really feel it when I watch a game. There are a heck of a lot of other reasons, discussed to death already, as to why a 3-1 game now typically takes more than three, three and a half hours to complete.

  24. Man, I dunno if Murphy's reinvented himself or if he's simply riding some hot streak for the ages, but so far, he's having the best season of any hitter in the NL. On top of last year's post-season. He's the NL's best hitter.
