I'm not so sure that “overrated” is quite the right description, especially since there have been some statistical analyses of precisely how extreme (or not) homefield advantage is. There was a really good book called “Scorecasting” that came out about 10 years ago that analyzed it. I'll stick with "overrated" because most in the media and then especially the fans, overrate the baseball HFA. Note, I never said that a baseball HFA doesn't exist, just that, again, it's overrated. Which I guess, would be synonymous with "exaggerated". Maybe you like "exaggerated" better than "overrated", though I think that in this context, the words are, like I already said, synonymous. But lost in my main point was that if the Mets could get deGrom and Scherzer say three starts combined in a seven game series against the Dodgers, I'm picking the Mets and I'm picking the Mets even if the Dodgers get to host all seven games. Because my post wasn't about HFA in a vacuum, but mainly about having deGrom and Scherzer and assuming that they're gonna pitch like they've been pitching without seriously declining.

Tonight, we saw the advantage of having a historically tremendous pitcher like deGrom on the mound. You don't typically beat these Dodgers by scoring just two runs.

One of the great games of this season. I guess that's deGrom's margin for error: he can't allow more than one run to get the stupid Win.

From the photos online already, looks like it's the normal 2022 whites with a OTD patch. For me, it's about authenticity. And accuracy. Keith Hernandez and Dwight Gooden never wore the 2002 whites. Neither did any of the other old-timers, for that matter. And just the same, I wouldn't wanna see Jay Hook come out in a Mercury Mets uniform. OE I guess Nike couldn't be bothered manufacturing various era specific threads for a one-off appearance. Nike'll do whatever they're paid to do, (assuming that Nike is the only manufacturer that's allowed to produce throwbacks for MLB teams) so long as they're given enough lead time. The Mets had era-specific throwbacks in 2008. I don't see why not today other than that these Mets "didn't feel like it" or couldn't get their act together in time. Or who knows? I wonder if each old-timer Met will wear a reasonably accurate throwback uni specific to the era he played in. Cohen strikes me as the guy with attention to these details. (And the budget to splurge for this). I'm definitely not expecting mesh caps and temporary nameplates that come unstuck in a soft breeze.
