Keep him. As others have mentioned, he can be used at DH during IL games. After that, when Nady returns, Nady can be used as the occasional fill-in for Floyd and Delgado (against certain left handers) and to rest Wright every once in a while. Didn't David respond well to a one game rest after a slight slump a few days ago? Sure, that will tick Nady off. But it still give Omar a chance to evaluate him over the rest of the season. Later

]Russo has been complaining that the front page of the New York Times sports section has been devoted mostly to World Cup coverage ("That's a bad job by the Times, you can't do that in New York!"). But the Cretinous Canine is the first to gush about each new issue of Sports Illustrated, and sometimes quote from their articles. He then will tell us how they are great because they cover all sports. He practically goes orgasmic when they give major coverage to tennis events. I wonder how he feels when SI gives major coverage to the Olympics, another once-in-four-years event? Like SI, the Times is not just a New York publication. Its readership spans cities, states and countries. He just doesn't get it. That's a bad job by Russo. Later

Yankee fans not supporting a sure fire winner isn't new. I happened to notice that on today's date in 1948, The Yankees paid tribute to the greatest player in the history of the game on Babe Ruth Day at the Stadium. The attendance that day? 49,641. At that time, the capacity for Yankee Stadium was listed as 67,000. But in 1948, the 94-60 Yankees would "only" finish second to the 97-58 Indians. The following year, The 97-57 Yankees, beginning a five year Dynasty, would draw crowds a large as 73,000 in games against the Indians (who finished with an 89-65 record). Seems like even a draw like Babe Ruth Day couldn't fill the Stadium if the team wasn't a sure fire winner. Yes, I expect that many Yankee fans will come over from the Dark Side. Welcome them. Their money is still green. And the Mets will be able to use that money to scout, sign, and develop the players that will keep the franchise winning for many years to come. Later

Holy Cow! I had a Scooter flashback this weekend. I was tuning in to WCBS for the weather report and forgot the Yank game was on. And I heard another Sterling moment. Remember when Phil was doing the Yankee games? Every night, he would mention the name(s) or birthday of every person in New Jersey from whom he could get, or just got, a free meal or free round of golf. Well, Stirling was wishing a happy three month birthday to the grandson of somebody we never heard of before. I wonder what he's expecting to get from that guy. Later

I gave Marrero a half point not for his bat, but for his glove. His nice running catch not only showed he is a viable option for that position (When he came here, we were told he was a "corner outfielder") but saved the ERA of a reliever who needed a good outing. Later

I was going to start a thread about audience vocal reactions to something on the screen. But since the article brought up "Rocky" this is a good place for it. And it is in keeping with your Aryan vs Others theme. In Rocky IV, the villain is not only the blond Russian boxer, but his handler, blond and smug Brigitte Nielsen as well. In one scene, Drago is pounding the crap out of Rocky. Brigitte glances over at Rocky's wife, dark haired Talia Shire, with a look of sheer contempt. At that point almost everyone in the theater either said aloud or muttered the same word - "Bitch". I was going to ask whether anyone else had a similar experience with that, or any other, movie.
