  1. BREAKING: MFY veterans to make MFY rookies dress for a funeral on flight to Houston.
  2. DA1VwGtnglo The cheers from the spectators reach a fever pitch as Duke Carmel, Kenny Rogers and Bill Sudakis lead an impressive formation of MFYs in the 2013 non-championship parade. The MFYs were eliminated from championship consideration on September 25, or several weeks earlier than has been recent tradition.

  4. Simply lovely! And yeah, Reds look underwhelming. Phillips truly cannot be bothered to run to first.
  5. HahnSolo wrote: Either I am reading this wrong, I am missing a joke, or this has to be wrong: Jayson Stark ?@jaysonst 3m In other #Yankees news, @chrisidore reports that if they get eliminated tonight, tomorrow will be 1st "meaningless" home game since 10/3/63 Gotta be 93.

  7. Dice will have the pleasure of holding Billy Hamilton on first should he put him there.
  8. As @Mets mentioned, that First Game certificate really works. Go to fan assistance booth off Shea Bridge when you get there and your daughter will receive a nice souvenir, probably the 7th inning (or they can mail it to her if sleepy time kicks in).
  9. Postgame show is on! [youtube:al86h1kr]s7Usnpt-7m4[/youtube:al86h1kr]
  10. Spotted in the audience at The Colbert Report on September 24 as the Emmy-winning host thanked his staff (filling all the seats for the occasion): Mr. Met.
  11. Holding back the Reds...
  12. A LEGENDARY MFY HOTHEAD, HE WOULD NOT HAVE STOOD FOR THIS SHIT. SURELY HE WOULD HAVE PICKED A FIGHT WITH A WRITER OR GONE ON A LEGENDARY BENDER BY NOW.
  13. Jack Fisher and Jim Dwyer join forces to lead the Baltimore Orioles into the non-championship parade. The Birds flew far from championship consideration when they were eliminated on September 24.

  16. Not exactly a pop culture sighting, but this caught my Metsian eye, from The New Republic's profile of estranged Clinton retainer/handler Doug Band. Not everyone in Clintonland was thrilled at Bands ascent. He can come across as pretty harshly judgmental, says a former senior aide to Hillary Clinton. You could fill Shea Stadium with people who havent heard from Doug, or heard something they didnt want to hear, or heard something that alienates them. Unless research on this article began five or more years ago, that's a pretty nifty allusion for 2013.
  17. Lastings Milledge grabs the baton and marches at the head of the Washington Nationals contingent in the 2013 non-championship parade. Lastings's Nats became eligible to get in line when they exited championship consideration on September 23.

  19. Y'all do yourself a favor and remember to tune in 10-15 minutes before first pitch the rest of the way. Each WFAN broadcast opens with a montage not of the usual array of recent highlights but a handful of classic calls. Today it was Gary Thorne with Darryl's HR off the Big O roof, Bob Murphy with Cone's 19th K and Gary Cohen with the Grand Slam Single. Yesterday it was Murph and Carter's 300th, Cohen and Hundley's 41st and Cohen with the 2000 pennant-clincher. Love when somebody cares enough to do stuff like this.
  20. Contrary to rumors that a Mo Vaughn float is being constructed to ride in the 2014 Tournament of Roses, the actual Mo Vaughn has been spotted leading the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim into the 2013 non-championship parade. The Angels qualified for the processional when they stopped conceivably qualifying for 2013 championship consideration on September 21.

  22. Mets win! Grab a towel!
