  1. Very happy for Jake, the first Met to earn multiple selections as a Met since David Wright's last All-Star berth in 2013. Mets who've been the Mets' only pick more than once (pending lightning striking and Nimmo suddenly getting named): Ron Hunt 1964, 1966 John Stearns 1977, 1980, 1982 (also picked alongside Mazzilli in 1979) Bobby Bonilla 1993, 1995 Mike Piazza 1999, 2002 (also picked alongside teammates five times) Jacob deGrom 2015, 2018
  2. Cardinals released Sean Gilmartin this week. Had been pitching at Memphis for them.
  3. Dilson Herrera pinch-ran in today's Reds loss to the Cubs, marking his first MLB action since the night of October 3, 2015, when he started at second base for a Mets team that was no-hit by Max Scherzer.
  4. Drew Smith sent down to accommodate the no more than four innings to be thrown by Chris Flexen.
  5. Beautiful weather at Citi Field today. And a fine Jacob deGrom bobblehead. So lifelike, in fact, that the Mets didn't score for it, either. Otherwise, bleh.
  6. Flexen (not on roster at the moment) announced as Sunday's starter. Wheeler and Oswalt will take the doubleheader on Monday.
  7. Lifetime ban rescinded. Mejia conditionally reinstated. Everybody issues conditional statements. Welcome back, Jenrry?
  8. Marysol Castro profiled by NBC here. Had to overcome an unfortunate childhood MFY affinity, perhaps attributable to growing up in a borough where it's easy to make that mistake.
  9. Peter Alonso (USA) and Andres Giminez (World) are your Mets Futures Game representatives.

  11. Blevins has gone on he bereavement list, as his grandmother has died. Sewald is back in the interim.
  12. Mariners GM and perpetually shaky mid-'90s Mets middle reliever Jerry DiPoto gets contract extension.
  13. Dude has begun TJS rehab, playing for those St. Lucie Mets last night. Went 0-for-4 as DH.
  14. Nearly two years after acquiring him, the Reds have called up Dilson Herrera.
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: The fanfare was kind of preempted because of the "We seem to have a champion" post that snuck in before I got a chance to create the fanfare! Good news couldn't wait any longer.

  17. Friend of mine who flew up to Toronto this morning to be part of The 7 Line Army jamboree at Rogers Centre came across another person carrying luggage festooned with Mets logos. An attempt to commiserate with him was met with silence. Moments later, thanks to that person meeting up with a driver holding a sign reading NIDO, he realized he was telling New York Mets backup catcher Tomas Nido (presumably called up in reaction to Mesoraco's melon getting whacked with a bat) how much his team sucked. Probably wasn't expecting that! Once my friend was clued in as to who he had just interacted, he apologized for speaking the truth. Nido smiled politely and was on his way.
  18. Centerfield wrote: I don't get why Mets Twitter gets a bad rap. I mean, twitter is a vehicle where you can choose what you want to follow and block out the others. No? Good summation. There's always gonna be jerks. They can be avoided.

  20. Half of MLB is worse than the Mets this month and NOBODY is better.
  21. Mets take their winning ways global, or at least to Canada Tuesday night. Zack Wheel' keeps on turnin', hot team keeps on burnin'. Not having had a second consecutive IGT to start since mid-April, I am absolutely giddy.
