I wouldn't say Pete's a bad first baseman. If anything, I'd say he's improved with each year. Each and every year. If I said he was an above average first baseman would anyone hurl a sneaker at my noggin?

I think Nimms could make a fine first baseman if need be and if he can handle a groundball rocketing at him from time to time. Alonso was no wiz at first but got much better mitt-wise over time. (Not hoping it comes to this)
