I floated the idea of going on Thursday past the boss last night. She was like, "you just said two hours ago they suck." I was like, "yeah, uh..." PointsBet has the odds at 50/50 according to multiple sources. Must be in NJ to play.
Did it ever come out what that Lindor/McNeil thing was really about? I forget if it did, seems so long ago even though it's not. I can see how some of this could turn a clubhouse into a personalities pickle. Lindor was slow out of the gate. The Baez thing of sure I'll play second with Lindor but only with Lindor. One's here until 2032 with no opt outs (and makes a gazzilion/year) and one is a rental.
Answering Ceets, my connection here craps out a lot lately... With all due respect, I can't go down the rabbit hole. If after 3-4 years or so there's a pattern of behavior maybe I'll revisit it but for now pointing fingers at him and citing things that have nothing to do with 2022 Free Agents and the poor and the billionaires and Steingrabber seems a little needlessly soapbox-y to me.
=Ceetar post_id=73909 time=1628464351 user_id=102] same story with every other rich billionaire that shouldn't exist. the return on investment (and that's all this is to him, a different incarnation of the stock market gambling game) starts to not be worth it at those numbers. Mets were 65% or whatever to make the playoffs at the deadline, so spending to make it 75 or 85% just doesn't provide the value. Trading the Rocker pick for future value is a good investment move, the year delay and current needs of the franchise be damned. We're a rich asshole's plaything, and there's not much we can do if he's playing with it for his own benefit, not everyone else's.
I'd think at this level, and the direness of the current state of affairs, one would (should) know not to say stuff that could be parsed and end up a headline. Not saying it's gonna happen, but... Tijuan Not Mad, "I Gave Team a Chance to Win!" isn't very team-matey sounding. But he's probably safe because they're gonna have a field day with the Mets on tomorrow's back pages.
Mets are the biggest disappointment since "Emotional Rescue." Thanks! Now I'm gonna be Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh'n all afternoon.
Catalyst = plant electrodes in each batter's neck and if they swing at a 57 footer or a pitch 1 1/2 feet off the plate they get zapped with two seconds of near household current. That'll cure that, and quick! (of course that's probably illegal and I'm sure the player's union might object, but tough times sometimes require tough desperate measures)
=Centerfield post_id=73748 time=1628304811 user_id=65] Let's make sure we have the same approach at the plate tomorrow. I'm sure eventually it will start working.
Can one imagine the uproar if they had re-upped him early (as some were clamoring for) and this is what they signed up for? I think he'll wake up. He often has a look on his face like the weight of the world is on his shoulders. Smile, broforto!
Here's the screen from the old board for comparison. I think it still worked when board did the switcheroo to UMDB. [FIMG=800]https://www.thecranepool.net/images/youtubebutt.png[/FIMG] It's probably hard to read so here is what is in those fields: [bLOCKQUOTE][*YOUTUBE]{TEXT}[/YOUTUBE*] - omit asterisks[/bLOCKQUOTE] [bLOCKQUOTE][/bLOCKQUOTE] [bLOCKQUOTE][*youtube]Link to the YouTube video[/youtube*] - omit asterisks[/bLOCKQUOTE]
An in-person take from you on fan-ratio will be fun. Sometimes that's hard to judge from just the television screen shots and audio. Sometimes it seems 50/50.
Perhaps a hot and humid weekend in the Philly Band Box is just what the doctor ordered? Problem is, the Phillies will be hitting there too lol. Three 9-8, 10-7 and 11-9 results?
