Mets Video
Syracuse nearly lost Friday night after holding visiting Worcester hitless for the first 7 1/3 innings. It blew a three-run lead after the no-no was broken up. After the Red Sox tied the game in the top of the ninth, MJ Melendez rescued the Mets in the bottom half with a walk-off RBI double, giving them a 4-3 win.
Syracuse was in control of this game as Jack Wenninger (five innings) and Ofreidy Gomez (two) kept Worcester without a hit through seven. But Matt Turner gave up a one-out, two-run double in the eighth after issuing a pair of walks, and Ben Simon surrendered a run in the ninth to blow the save.
The Mets have taken three of the first four games in this series.
Elsewhere in the organization:
Binghamton got big nights from JT Benson and Jefferson Rojas in an 8-5 victory over Altoona. Benson drove in four runs, while Rojas homered and drove in three. Mark Vientos made a rehab start at DH.
Brooklyn pounded out 20 hits as it out-slugged Asheville 16-12. Yonatan Henriquez homered twice and drove in five runs. Seven different Cyclones batters had at least two hits.

Syracuse Walks It Off After ‘Pen Meltdown
The Mets’ offense went to work in the bottom of the ninth after Simon’s blown save. With one out, Ronny Mauricio singled and Amick was hit by a pitch. With Melendez at the plate, Mauricio was picked off second by the catcher and thrown out attempting to steal third. Amick advanced to second on the play. Melendez then hit an opposite-field liner to the wall in left field to win the game.

Bats Drive Binghamton Past Altoona
Rojas got the Rumble Ponies on the board with a two-out, two-run home run in the third. It was his third homer as a Mets farmhand and 18th overall this season. He added an RBI single in the fourth to give the Rumble Ponies a 5-0 lead.
Between those Rojas hits, Benson lined a two-run single in the fourth for a 4-0 advantage. He added a sacrifice fly in the fifth for a 6-4 lead -- after Altoona had scored four in the top half -- and a run-scoring single in the seventh for the final margin.
Luke Gabrysh earned the win in his Binghamton debut after being promoted from High-A Brooklyn. He allowed four runs on six hits, two of them home runs, over five innings. He walked one and struck out four. Cristofer Gomez, Bryce Jenkins and Garrett Stratton got the final 12 outs. Stratton struck out two in a scoreless ninth to earn the save.
Vientos struck out twice and drew a walk in his three plate appearances. He left for pinch hitter Kevin Parada in the seventh. He was making his first game appearance since being placed on New York’s 10-day injured list July 10 with a right hand fracture. Vientos suffered the injury a day earlier when he was hit by a pitch.

St. Lucie Falls To Lakeland Again
The Mets have dropped the first four games of this six-game set. They fell behind early Friday as Lakeland scored three runs in the top of the second.
The Flying Tigers extended their lead to 4-0 in the fifth before St. Lucie got a run back in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly by Jake Ogden. Rodriguez’s solo homer in the seventh and Robbins’ solo homer in the eighth closed the gap to 4-3. Lakeland added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth.
St. Lucie outhit Lakeland 11-9 in the game. Dylan Carey had three of the hits, while Bohan Adderley and Julio Zayas each had two.
The Mets used seven pitchers in a bullpen game. Jimenez was the only one to pitch multiple innings. He came on in the sixth and left after facing one batter in the ninth. That batter came around to score with Miguel Mejias pitching.
