Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 I'm an infielder with high averages and first-round pedigree, but questions on whether I'll get over my errorly ways. Nonetheless, I arrived like a comet in the bigs, hitting well for a guy with seven trips to the plate.I've got more to prove in seventeen, and I need an opportunity in which to do it. And that opportunity has to come before that damned Rosario arrives and takes it from me. How do you see this playing out?[fimg=360:3iyjfiam]http://metsmerizedonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/CRYgGU6U8AAAN6C-400x252.jpg?x22250[/fimg:3iyjfiam] [fimg=340:3iyjfiam]https://cdn0.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/JzZd15rccVgQMV5ddrK6r07h9i0=/0x300:1600x1367/1310x873/cdn0.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/47063120/gavin-cecchini-donovan-2015.0.0.jpg[/fimg:3iyjfiam][fimg=341:3iyjfiam]http://metsmerizedonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/gavin-cecchini1-400x280.jpg?x22250[/fimg:3iyjfiam] [fimg=359:3iyjfiam]https://metsmlb.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/gavin-cecchini-photo-day-1.jpg[/fimg:3iyjfiam]

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 When he played short in the minors, his arm to play that position was questioned. Then the talk came about moving him to second, which should help hide a "weak arm". But toward the end of last season, I read some reports that his arm might not be good enough for second in the majors. (can't find the link) I'm not sure if its weak or if he has Chuck Knobloch disease.I'll say he won't emerge from the minors this year until the question is answered.Later
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 As mentioned in another thread, the Cabrera one I guess, there's some kind of disconnect between his offensive performance/age and his seeming prospects. His numbers look great, and this hit is like, wow.[youtube:1c6dhucw]EWZiKAXeQM0[/youtube:1c6dhucw]It looks now like he's going to be at AAA for awhile but I suspect if he stays healthy he could step in for Walker for a few weeks and maybe more if Walker ages as quickly as I fear he might.2-20 - 273/345/375 in 150 PA, 9 doubles.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 God, that was about as fun as a game could be without winning.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Rosario is their guy, Cecchini deal bait, a throw-in to sweeten the Jay Bruce deal.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 15, 2017 Author Posted June 15, 2017 Announced two minutes ago on the Las Vegas 51's Twitter feed: Gavin Cecchini is a late scratch from tonight's starting lineup.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 I think it was Howie who said last night that the org is down on Cheech and that Terry wasn't anxious to get him Action until they can straighten out whatever became of his swing. Maybe the fact they buried him beneath the corpses of Walker and Cabrera got his head up his ass or something, but that we were unable for whatever reason to activate this guy's thunder is yet another disappointing development of 2017.
