Guest cooby Guests Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Here is a young man I adored very much as a young ladyIf you can find some way to connect with him, I would very much love thatDo you remember:Ralph Kiner saying 'he's an EGYPTIAN" Sammy's dad was murdered for that...many years ago.Someone we could give some love to during the boring off season
Guest cooby Guests Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I mean, sometimes, you just want to say to an old ballplayer, hey, somebody still cares about you...Especially when you find out what happened to his family
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Apparently he's still the only Arab-American to play in the big leagues. His Wikipedia page says he coaches at his alma mater and drives a cab in Tucson, although who knows how up to date that is. I checked the school's football and baseball pages and Sammy wasn't listed with either coaching staff.

Guest 41Forever Guests Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I'm confident this card appeared in every single pack I opened in 1987.
Guest cooby Guests Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Read an article today that said Kevin Mitchell almost killed him once during a baseball brawl.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Baseball brawls are generally just a lot of macho posturing. However, if a serious one broke out involving Kevin Mitchell, I would surely have wanted him on my team. That was one bad man.

HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Didn't Ralph once call him Khadafy while reading the lineup?
Guest cooby Guests Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Armad Rashad is named after Sammy khalifa's father
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 That's some interesting degree of separation there. Ahmad holds the NFL record for the longest play from scrimmage not resulting in a TDat "98 yards in a 1972 game against the Rams."(quote from his wikipage)
