Missed in all the nothing going on last week is Tommy Tanous' promotion. Tanous, the Mets' director of amateur scouting the last five years, has been upgraded to vice-president, international and amateur scouting. That may mean doing the same thing from a bigger desk, but it's interesting as Alderson's expected retirement gives the Mets an opportunity to move the pieces around the board as they deliberately plan their succession.

Marc Tramuta moves up from assistant scouting director to director of amateur scouting.

Tamuta was a shortstop for St. Bonaventure (go, Bonnies!) who played one season in the Dodger organization, where he distinguished himself by rocking some Satinesque brow.

Actually, those brows might be more aptly described as Groucho-esque, especially considering he's from Fredonia, NY.

He came to work for the Mets under Tanous in 2012, having previously worked for the Blue Jays, where he scouted some of the talent the Mets would haul in when the R.A. Dickey trade went down. In 2014, the Mid-Atlantic Scouts Association named him the "crosschecker of the year," which apparently isn't as infamous a title as it is in the NHL. He also previously worked for the Baltimore Orioles where he scouted John Maine. So he's been good at eyeing Mets talent, even when he's not with the Mets.
