A hobby horse rides again. With Matt Reynolds's major league debut coming where Terry Collins probably least expected it (at least in terms of plausible possibilities), the Mets have now ushered 30 third basemen into their not-so-exclusive Hot Corner Club since David Wright became No. 129 and the veritable/symbolic revolving-doorstop on July 21, 2004. Reynolds is 3B No. 159 overall.

Juan Uribe just called and reminded me he played 3B, so now we're down to just I and X.

It would appear that Justin Turner in 2010 was the one that the Mets let get away. It woud have been nice to have him in a Mets uni the past few years.

I can't wait for the return of # 162. The offense needs the kind of jump start I think he could provide.

Funny how many catchers have snuck in there in the 21st Century: Eli Marrero, Vinny Rottino, Anthony Recker, and Travis d'Arnaud.

I was really hoping Marrero would stick there.
