I'm getting the idea that the gap between the haves and the have-nots is growing, but not so much because of market position or stuff like that, but because teams are making much bigger commitments between going all-in or riding out a period of strategic restructuring (a la the 76ers).

Houston vs. Milwaukee amusing me as the interleague series. It would've been interleague 30 years ago too. but not for most of the years inbetween.

The not-so-hot start of the year goes to San Diego who not only got swept at home by the Dodgers but failed to even score, losing 15-0, 3-0, and 7-0

Which is now being reported that it's record!

On Wednesday, the Padres became the first team in baseball history to be shut out in three consecutive games to start a season. San Diego was swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

So the Dodgers started the year with three straight shutouts, then in their 4th game (Thurs night) they coughed up 12 runs to the Giants.
The Padres, who were the shutout victims to LAD in those three games, finally scored in their 4th game by putting up 13 this afternoon in Colorado. And they even won the game!

You just can't predict baseball Suzyn!

Tonight's Dodgers/Giants game has taken some strange twists.

Dodgers rookie Ross Stripling had a no hitter with one out and one runner on base in the 8th, but gets pulled due to pitch count because he's coming back from Tommy John surgery. The reliever gives up a home run to Giants rookie Trevor Brown, and the game is now tied.

Giants eventually won 3-2 in extras.

Meanwhile in Colorado, 2 more HRs for Trevor Story. That's now 6 in his first 4 ML games (on pace for 243 - I think that would be a record).
