Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Matz takes the bump tonight. I'm laying 3-2 odds we'll hear tales of his admiration for the character Derek Jeter. FIGHT IT, STEVE!![fimg=500:65e6vb3z]http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2015/06/29/images/mlbf_207560583_th_45.jpg[/fimg:65e6vb3z]

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 I went and used the loo and returned to realize the date was wrong was wrong.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 I'm Stephen Matz, and I'm not getting it done. Mets are down 4-0 after an Alex Rodriguez two-run single. Six straight Yankees have reached beis.I blame Edgy who can't operate a calendar.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Matz continuing his not good pitching trend this spring: 4 runs on 7 hits plus 2 walks (1 K) with just one out in the 2nd
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 Hey, Grandy just bounced one down the third-base line to beat the shift for a double.I mean, It's not going to dig them out of a 5-0 hole, but it HAS LONG-TERM IMPLICATIONS!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 CESPEDES beats the shift TOO!If Duda pulls it off, it'll be a rare trifecta.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 Cespedes steals third with two outs and the team down by five.Yoenis being Yoenis. We may hear a lot of that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 Cespedes just fouled a Chapman pitch off his foot.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 And he doubles home Granderson! It's 5-2!!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 The good news: 12 hits (3 by Cespedes, 2 each Grandy & deAza) and were mostly off of the NYY 'A-list' hurlers: Severino, Chapman, Miller, Bettances (plus 3 total off whoever Olson & Moreno are). But, in keeping with this spring's pattern, 10 of the 12 were singles.Matz wound up going four innings and was fine except for the 5-spot in the 2nd. So other than that Mrs. Lincoln ...

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I'm getting concerned about Matz. Has he had one decent performance this Spring? When this stuff happens, it can be one of two things 1) He overthrowing, and his stuff is flattening out, or2) He's tipping his pitches. Both are correctable, but if this keeps up, he could spend the early part of the season in the minors.Later
