Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 There was a surprising amount of bitching about the game one poll, so here you go bitchers
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I voted for Syndergaard too, only because there was no option for Kevin Kobel.

RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Is there any question (especially since it was already answered)? The only issue was how he felt after Thursday.Too much was made of his "100 pitches warming up." You don't throw your best on every pitch while warming up; the point is not to throw strikes but to get your muscles ready and test out your control. You can do that with 80 mph fastballs. Also, the number is misleading anyway. A starter has eight warmup pitches each inning, plus those before the game. So going seven innings means there were 56 -- say 70 -- warmup pitches even before the pitch count starts. No one complains about how they tire out the pitcher.Getting up and down to warm up in the bull pen is really no different from pitching an inning and then sitting in the dugout, and the tosses are easier.

So we can't have him doing it now! He's had arm problems! When it's about keeping his arm fresh for Game Four, Terry's all, Matz WILL pitch in Game Two, regardless of the situation; we'll figure some way to get him in there force him in there if we have to.So he can't pitch relief because he's only started, so you want to protect him from the alleged damage of relieving, unless you need him to pitch relief to prepare for a start, in order to protect him from some other alleged damage. And all that puts aside the presumably high priority of winning post-season games whenever you have a chance to win them. And really, if you want to get him a single inning, just for the sake of getting him work, even though you obviously don't know how the game will unfold, just let him start.
