Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Minor League All Stars can be a mixed bag. Many of your minor leaguers enjoying their best seasons won't taste All Star glory because they were promoted just before the All Star Game. Some are climbing stars and others veterans who are outclassing their peers because it's their third season at the level. Some come from small leagues, where the roster is comprised from six teams in the southern division playing six teams in the northern division, while others represent leagues where the entire league pools it's best for an inter-league All Star game against another league at the same level. That said, here are your Mets minor league All Stars.AAA Las VegasMatt Reynolds (24), if: .270 / .327 / .410 // .737 in 78 gamesTravis Tajeiron (26), of: .277 / .390 / .525 // .915 in 78 gamesAA BinghamtonLuis Cessa (23), sp: 74 / 2.56 in 13 starts (77.1 IP) with 17 walks and 61 strikeouts Paul Sewald (25), rp: 30 /1.67 (14 saves) in 27 games (32.1 IP) with 6 walks and 30 strikeoutsGavin Cecchini (21), ss: .295 / .358 / .426 // .784 in 76 gamesJosh Rodriguez (30), if: .292 / .370 / .512 // .882 in 79 gamesBrandon Nimmo (22), of: .289 / .351 / .382 // .733 in 56 games High A St. LucieJeff McNiel (23), if: .318 / .377 / .392 // .769 in 77 gamesAkeel Morris (22), rp: 01 (13 saves) / 1.69 in 24 games (32 IP) with 14 walks and 46 strikeoutsLow A SavannahCasey Meisner (20), sp: 72 / 2.13 in 12 starts (76 IP) with 19 walks and 66 strikeoutsDavid Rosenboom (23), rp: 30 (8 saves) / 1.15 in 24 games (31.1 IP) with eight walks and 35 strikeoutsToms Nido (21), c: .251 / .283 / .393 // .676 in 58 gamesJonathan Johnson (26), 2b: .286 / .409 / .385 // .794 in 72 gamesFormer Mets shortstop prospect Corey Ragsdale was a manager in the South Atlantic League All Star Game.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 Michael Conforto and Brandon Nimmo represented the Mets (and the United States) in the Futures game. Conforto went 22 with a run scored and an outfield assist. Nimmo went 12 with an RBI and a run scored.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 St. Lucie actually acted as host of the Florida State League All Star Game, which took place back in June. And more St. Lucie players were apparently added to he roster at a later date. The FSL South Team, shut out the FSL North team 60, and as Florida is known as the only state where north is south, this is a good thing.Jeff McNiel (.320 / .378 / .402 // .779) led off and played second the whole game (he had been focused on third previously but this year the Mets seem to be moving him around more), going 2-5 with a run scored. Colton Plaia (.263 / .314 / .344 // .658 in 58 games) caught a few innings and went 01. Maikis de la Cruz (.255/ .315 / .342 // .656) played right and left, going 0-3 with a walk. Michael Conforto (.283 / .350 / .462 // .811) was on the roster also, but had been promoted to Binghamton before the game took place. Similarly, Akeel Morris (the Familia of the FSL with a 1.69 ERA in 32 innings) did not appear as he was futzing around the big leaves instead, and Robert Gsellman (6-0 / 1.76 as a starter, yo) had been bumped up to Bingo. The only St. Lucie pitcher who did appear was Mike Hepple (2.37 ERA in 25 games, but likes to walk people), who gave up two hits in two thirds of an inning but got out of it with a strikeout, and is no relation, that I know of, to Wilbur Huckle.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
