Starting catcher Wilin Rosario is day-to-day with a hand contusion. If he can grip the bat, he gets the call. A squat, chubby-cheek'd Dominican, Wilin has solid Coors Field power, is a good bet for 20-25 homers, and loves to hit lefties. Hits .250-.256 and gets his share of strikeouts. He's got a strong arm but is considered mechanically weak as a catcher. (In fact, Rockies fans and their press hate his catching game.)

If he can't go, Jordan Pacheco will. Patch is a fringey guy with a goofy grin and a solid stick who, as a catcher, makes a nice firstbaseman. Still, chixx dig the backup catcher.

Pacheco will one day hit 14 homers for the Yankees.

Hey, that's not Todd Helton over there at first! Who the heck IS that?!

That would be former Twin (and Pirate) Justin Morneau manning first base, who's having somewhat of a resurgence in the thin Denver air.

.343/.367/.618 .985 OPS with 6 HR

He's signed through next season with an option year after that.

I know it's Colorado and they're often towards the top in a lot of offensive categories, but ...

- they're on top in RS/G ... by nearly a full run!!
- they're tops in BA ... by 27 points!!
- in OBA by a dozen points
- in SLG by 65 points!
- in Hits, in 2Bs, in HRs

Q: Who's hitting over .300 on this team?
A: Fuckin' EVERYBODY (well, just about)

We better have our pitching shoes on.
