metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Seems like part his job is to put arses in seats ...After DePaoli joined the Pirates, the club saw baseball's fourth-largest percent increase in attendance between 2009 and 2012they also had a bunch of young exciting players......best of luck, a packed CF is fun.

In a year they finished under .500 and was a lot like the Mets season really.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Nobody knew how to put asses in the seats better than Bill Veeck. I'd take a page out of the Veeck playbook and install an exploding scoreboard. With real explosives. You know why.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I remember taking a look at the Pirates' promotion calendars several times over the last few years and coming away pretty damn impressed-- both by volume (they had SOMETHING going virtually every home game) and by the fun/fanbase-nurturing nature of 'em (Pirate Pierogie figures, bobbleheads of guys like Bob Walk and Tekulve, Pirate-alum meet-and-greets during EVERY weekend homestand).
