We're in the the bottom of the second inning, and there's no score, and no thread, and that's what we call Metsapathy.

2-out, no one on, 8 & 9 spots coming up ... sounds like the perfect time for a five run rally!!

Mets, meanwhile, have two hits and haven't scored more than five runs in an entire game since the 3rd of May

No kudos for yielding about 17 straight two-out hits in the fifth, giving the Braves a 5-0 lead.

Two hits so far for the Mets, the sort of offense that presses the pitcher to perfect, which they can be, until they're not, and then dams break.

Without GKR, this team is unwatchable....

Not enough to outsex Mike Nickeas, Anthony. You need to outhit him, too.

And that's not such a tall order.

Howie and Josh talking up Gee's future as a reliever. Completely hopeless the 3rd time through a lineup but not so bad the first time through.

Perhaps he take over for Brandon "0-2 count" Lyon.

Lewin going on about damage control, underscoring how Gee has pitched as well as most in most of his innings. His problem is that where others might have the occasional one- or two-run innings, Gee gives up five-run innings.

That, I think, happens with teams who don't score. Pitchers kill themselves trying to be too perfect.

Robert Carson's one "value-added" thing: he doesn't break when the other guys hit liners literally off of him. (The downside-upshot? He continues to pitch when the other guys hit liners literally off of him.)

SIDE NOTE: Just started paying attention again; I've been driving since the first and unable to listen on the radio. Figuring that it would be the fifth or sixth when I got where I was going, I almost expected something like five runs to have come in by the time I checked back in.

I get why there are napkins and wrappers out there blowing around in center.

I don't get who is out there buying food.

Unless it's stress eating.

Josh Lewin reads the MLB "rebroadcast, retransmission" warning, and caps it with, "And honestly, if you're going to be disseminating, I don't know why you'd choose this one."

Good Lord, do I hope those people with the wrappers got DISCOUNTED stress-eats.

Not really. Knob job, on par with the broadcast and the game in general.

"Hey. HEY! Watch it."

The numbers are there, sorta, and it's way down the list of problems, but I dunno if I can even remember David Wright having one of those big killer David Wright Games this year.

There was a 2-HR game, I think.

OE: Hey, I'm not senile yet! (In a loss, though.)

That's like 40% of his HRs right there. See if I've forgotten that game, I've forgotten a lot.

could also be the defense. i.e. when a pitcher's a little off and yielding more balls in play a good defense might convert them into outs (a swifter LFer, though Duda wasn't horrible on it, probably dives and makes the catch limiting it to 2 runs)

It could be. I just see pitchers working without a net.

Ike whiffs. Day's proceedings were missing that.

Twelve games under before Memorial Day, looking worse if you watch the games, with regression from presumed bedrock players, and-- talk about lacking even cold consolation-- this team is likely not getting either of the top two draft picks next year.

It gets late early these days.

Seemed like they were only six games under six games ago.

The commitment to Ike has cost them, but...

if you aren't going to win, you might as well lose bad...mediocrity does not yield good draft picks (although, it does make you wonder how the Braves/Cards are almost always in playoff contention; yet still almost always have some of the best farm systems)...
