Mets offices suffer damage in Citi Field blaze The Amazin's are hot, but not this hot. Minor fire will not even be noticed by fans. BY BARRY PADDOCK AND ROCCO PARASCANDOLA / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS PUBLISHED: MONDAY, APRIL 15, 2013, 1:07 PM Further evidence that the New York Mets are on fire � their ballpark was damaged in an early morning blaze on Monday. The 3:50 a.m. fire at Citi Field damaged the team�s administrative office on the fourth floor of the stadium�s adjoining office complex, officials said. �Sprinkler systems contained the fire before FDNY extinguished it,� The Mets said in a statement. �There was no damage to any areas accessed by fans at Citi Field.� It took 60 firefighters about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. What is also under investigation is the Mets� early season success. (Editorial note: This is a Pulitzer-quality transition here by Paddock and Parascandola.) The Flushing-based team is 7�4 on the season, good enough for second place in the National League East. They�ve won their last two in a row, including a stellar outing by rookie phenom Matt Harvey. Harvey will be on the hill when the Amazin�s return home on Friday for a showdown with the Washington Nationals and their ace, Stephen Strasburg.
