The more playing time that Murphy or Wright miss, the more Justin Turner gets. (Look at Turner's numbers for 2011 and 2012.) I like Turner; he's a nice player to have in reserve, but I certainly hope that there's no reason for him to see a lot of playing time in 2013. He seems to like to hit about .260, so I'll predict that for him. Hopefully no more than 200 at bats. 3 homers.

It's a big coupla days for him. If his ankle doesn't respond, he could be on the DL to open the season. If it does, he'll likely make the team. If Wright or Murphy can't get on the field --- especially Murphy, who hasn't appeared yet --- then Turner opens the season in the starting lineup.

It's like football camp, where you don't have to worry about trimming the roster, so much as letting attrition do it for you.

Some ankle sprains can take 5 or 6 weeks to heal properly. It's crazy how they took out Reese Havens with the first swipe of the knife.

I think Tyrna is only OK. It's plainly obvious that Terry Collins thinks he's awesome.

Also chiseled off Josh Satin --- who I tend to believe would at this point in his career have the same big league job security as Turner had his timing been more fortuitous. It's funny how many big league managers, so many of whom were marginal but versatile infielders, fall in love with their marginal but versatile infielders.

I like those numbers you put up, and I think he'd get there given the chance, but I also suspect this sprain can futz up the first half of his season, and by that time he'll be passed on the depth chart by Valdespin and Flores. Terry is a duck of lameness and he can afford only so much loyalty.

.244 / .292 / .368 // .660 in 75 plate appearances.
