Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Using cold-hearted intellect and analysis, what two teams do you predict will play in this year's World Series?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 The Reds are a very balanced team, and Washington may be too giddy with their sudden success to win it this year. The MFYs will probably be the AL rep, if only because of all those bottom of the ninths at YS III.Later
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 The Reds really flew under the radar this year, didn't they? Then again, we had a rare 3 series year with Cincy and IIRC, they slaughtered us in every one of them.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 If Votto isn't your MVP, he still inherits from Pujols the title of the league's standard bearer for batsmanship. The fact that they did this with only 2/3 of a season from him is impressive, but he still led the league in walks. Second in doubles!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Both Cincy and Washington are built as well for this time of year as they were for the long haul-- rock-solid D, hitting that can carry their pitching, pitching that can carry their hitting, and mostly-airtight 'penwork. I trust Davey more at the helm, but... on a hunch that one or more of the Nats starters crumple under playoff pressure, I'll go with Cincinnati... and, in a prediction that is definitely not an attempt to reverse-jinx 'em, the undead MFYs.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I kind of feel the Giants are flying a bit under the radar...I went with them and the Yankees (boo).

Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 SF - Detroit, a WS match-up that has never occurred despite their 28 total appearances.oe: The Giants/Yankees match-up, should it happen, would be the eighth time the teams met in the WS.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Not yet! This is, after all, the team that came back from 6 runs down on elimination day in the last round - although by inning 5 they had already closed it down to a 3-run deficit.
