Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 SCHAEFER METS PLAYER AND PITCHERS OF THE MONTH, SEPTEMBER 2012The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for September 2012 is R. A. DICKEY. This is R.A.'s third time as Player of the Month in 2012 and his fourth time overall. It's also his tenth time as Pitcher of the Month, breaking a tie with Johan Santana for the most Pitcher of the Month awards in Schaefer history. R.A. has now won the award in eight of the last nine months. (The only exception was Jon Niese's win in July of this year.) Dickey was 3-2 in September with a 2.97 ERA in 36.1 innings and five starts. Second-place finisher David Wright was the leading position player in September, slashing a not-too-impressive .258/.301/.423 with 4 home runs and 13 runs batted in. The Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is a second-time winner, BOBBY PARNELL. In September, Bobby led the Mets with 2 saves and had an ERA of 0.75 in 12 innings and 13 games. Manny Acosta finished a close second to Parnell. His September ERA was 0.90 in 10 innings and 11 games. The Schaefer Mets Bench Player of the Month for September is KELLY SHOPPACH. Kelly batted only .149 in September, but he can credit his Schaefer award to his ninth-inning heroics in the Mets come-from-behind victory in Miami on September 1. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Had I know Kershaw was wearing his beard that way, I never would have entertained all this Cy Young talk for him.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Superlative job BG, as always!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Love the strikeout leaders. That's a weird Shoppach card, but Shoppach is a little weird himself.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I wish you could've seen my mouth fall open in delight (that's what she said) when I got a gander at that Strikeout Leaders card. One more Schaefer ass kicked.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 Thanks! Every once in a while one of these cards that I create makes me actually smell bubble gum, and that 1971-style strikeout leaders card was one of them.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I think you topped yourself, which is damn near impossible.
