As the game of musical relievers continues (as it does for most clubs).

I forget exactly when & why Beato was sent down in the first place after being called up briefly but never pitching. Maybe they needed to wait until his ten days were up (or is it fifteen?) before recalling him.

But whatever the case, he now has some innings under his belt and should be ready to contribute - or self-immolate depending on his mood, moon phases, etc.

Beato was pitching very well in Buffalo, and Hefner hasn't exactly forced the team to keep him here. Hard to argue with the move.

This Huston Street you seem to be fixated on, he is... how you say... not so good as you think, yes?

I'd rather have seen Batista go-- today notwithstanding, I think Hefner's a more potentially-usable piece. But, yeah, bring on Beato. And keep on shuffling every three weeks or so, until we get a good mix.

And the Huntington, L.I. Macy's was such a convenient place to buy tickets too.
Particularly for those who lived in Huntington.

I made many a trip there, back in the day.

That program, from 8/19/73, was one day before my first-ever Mets game at Shea.

In the 70s I worked during the summer at a store on West Broadway and Thomas Street, and would occasionally buy tickets at the Manufacturers Hanover Bank branch near City Hall.

When I was a kid, I knew that program front and back. I'd look at that and the yearbook over and over while watching games.

I knew I had one of these around the house. This is a stub from a ticket I bought at Manufacturer's Hanover Bank. The bank logo is pre-printed on the ticket, and there is a note on the back stating that 'No raincheck exchange may be made at the bank.'

As I remember, you would tell them what level you wanted to sit and they would call and get the seat location. The UMDB tells me this was a tidy little 2-1 win over the Cubs, with Koosman going all the way on a three hitter.
